Campout at the Park Bring out the family for a fun night at the park. You will have the chance to camp at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads, enjoy s’mores on the campfire, pizza in the pavilion, donuts in the morning, watch a movie on our outdoor movie screen and more! NFL Flag Football Our NFL Flag Football league is designed to introduce boys and girls to the fundamental elements of football in a fun, instructional and safe environment. From the moment your child steps on the field, our program is designed to assist each player with the advancement of their individual skill level and football knowledge while enhancing their level of play in a fun and structured environment. Each participant will receive a NFL branded jersey and a flag belt. Fee $40 | Register By July 22 Season: August 15-October 8 | RPC Grades 2, 3-4, 5-6 & 7-8 (based on 2022-2023 school year)

Youth Kickball Come out for four consecutive weeks to enjoy the great game of kickball. All age groups will be played on Saturdays at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads. Players will be separated by ages 6-9 and 10-13 and teams will be selected each Saturday. Fee $20 | Register By June 24 Season: July 9-July 30 | Saturdays Ages 6-13 | RPC

1st Grade Intro to Football Prepare your first grader with this 6-session introduction to football clinic. Participants will learn the very basics of football to prepare them for their first year into flag football. Each session will consist of various skill stations to focus on the primary fundamentals of football. There will be no official games played during this time. Clinics will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays starting at 9am and begin on August 2nd and running through August 11th. Fee $20 | Register By July 22 Season: August 2-11 | Tuesdays-Thursdays 9-10:30am | RPC 1st Graders (as of 2022-2023 school year)

Youth Tackle Football Practices will start in early-August and are typically 3 days a week prior to game season and then 2 days a week once games begin in early-September. Season will end mid-October. Games will be played at Rockingham County Park at the Crossroads or Smithland Fields. As we have partnered with Harrisonburg City Parks and Recreation for this upcoming season. Helmet and shoulder pads will be provided for the season but must be returned after last game or if a child decides not to play. Physicals and birth certificates are not required but guardian will need to verify age. Fittings can be done 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday during registration dates. RCPR staff will be set up at Dick's Sporting Goods July 29 to assist participants in finding the correct equipment and we'll also have COUPONS! Youth Coed Soccer

Girls Basketball

Youth soccer will be returning to Rockingham County Recreation thanks to our partnership with Virginia Skyline Soccer! The program will be 8 weeks long, with practices being held twice a week either on Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday. Weeks 1-3 will be clinic-style practices as teams are organized based on age and skill level. Games will start week 4 once all teams have been set, and will take place on Saturday mornings (subject to change depending on registration numbers). There is limited space available, so make sure you register early! Fee $60 | Register By June 3 Season: June 13-August 5 Ages 5-12 (age as of 6/13/2022) | RPC

Girls’ basketball seasons will return to regular team play in 2022! The season will begin with a minicamp hosted by your local high school coaches and players the week of September 26th. This will be a 4-day minicamp focused on drills and skills for them to take into the season. After the minicamp, players will be divided onto teams and will start practicing on October 3rd. Teams will have two practices per week, with two games on Saturdays. Games will begin on October 15th and run through November 5th with each team playing a double header on all the Saturdays except November 5th. Each player will receive an RCPR reversible jersey. Fee $40 | Register By September 16 Grades: 2-3, 4-5 & 6-8 (grade as of 2022-2023 school year) Season: September-October

JMU Jr. Cheer Clinic Bring your 5 year old out to learn some basic cheerleading skills for leading a crowd and entertaining fans. From motion technique, sign work, crowd dances and more! Fee $50 | Register By July 25 August 9 & 10 | Tuesday & Wednesday 9am-12pm | Age 5 (age as of 8/9/2022) | JMU

Coed Basketball Clinic Clinics will take place on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University (at Yoder Arena) and will be orchestrated by the EMU men’s and women’s basketball programs including their coaches and players. This will increase the quality of instruction, provide a much better player to coach ratio and a perfect facility to foster basketball skills development. This will be the only clinic for grades K-2nd, 2nd graders are also eligible to sign up in their respective recreation basketball league. All participants will receive a shirt. Youth Cheerleading

Practices will be held 1-2 weeknights in your local areas and games will be on Saturday mornings (some week nights if needed). We will be partnering with Harrisonburg Parks & Recreations, so games will be held at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads and Smithland Park. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and poms. Other uniform pieces will not be available for purchase, but participants are welcome to buy or reuse skirts/shorts coordinating with their squad colors. All Balls Camp Let’s PLAY BALL! Does your little one love to bounce a ball, kick a ball, swing a bat, and learn about games that use a variety of balls? If you answered “yes” then this is the camp for him or her. We will learn about a variety of sports that use “a Ball” to play the game. Bowling, Basketball, Baseball, Kickball, Volleyball etc.. Games will be modified based on developmental level of play. This is just a fun camp to burn energy, play with all sizes of balls and learn good sportsmanship. Princess Camp Do you have a little princess in your home? If you have a child that loves music, dress-up, crafts and story time, then this is a camp for your little one. Each day we will celebrate a different princess and learn how princesses are beautiful from the inside out. We will make a craft, dance to music, enjoy some pampering and eat a yummy snack together. Are you a female between the ages of 14-16 and like to challenge yourself? Do you possibly have interest in public safety to help and serve your community? Camp LIT might be for you! If you want to challenge yourself physically and mentally while learning what it’s like in the field of Fire & Rescue, consider applying to spend a week with some peers. Camp LIT (Leadership, Integrity, Trailblazer) is a free of charge experience which includes an opportunity to use the hose lines just as firefighters do, enter into a smokefilled atmosphere and perform a search for victims, learn to communicate with walkies, learn first aid and CPR, tour a fire station and the 911 center and much much more. Reverse Coed Volleyball Tournament Wilbur Pence Middle School and Rockingham County Parks & Recreation are teaming up for a one-day fundraising volleyball tournament. Reverse Coed will be played on a women's height net, with guys needing to hit behind the 10-foot line and not able to block. Teams will consist of two males and two females. The tournament will be pool play/single elimination tournament. Divisions will be determined by number of participants. Check-in and day of registration will begin at 8:30 am on the day of the tournament with games beginning at 9 am. There will be prizes for 1st and 2nd place. AARP Smart Driver Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road to safely adjust driving to compensate for age-related changes. Persons who complete the course will be issued a Certificate of Completion to be provided to your insurance company for a discount. Please feel free to bring a brown bag lunch to class. All course materials are provided to participants and no tests are involved. Class will be led by AARP instructor, Kati Mole. 2 on 2 Grass Volleyball Tournament Wilbur Pence Middle School and Rockingham County Parks & Recreation are teaming up for a one-day fundraising volleyball tournament. Each tournament will consist of 2 divisions (A and B). The tournament will be a pool play/single elimination tournament. Divisions will be determined by number of participants. Women's Fall Volleyball

The Fall volleyball season will start the week of September 12 and run through midNovember. Teams will be able to choose the night of play, Monday (Upper Division), or Wednesday (Lower Division) night. There is an 8-team maximum per night. We need at least 6 per night to fill a league, teams may be asked to switch nights if there are not enough teams. Each team will play at least two games per night. Gentle Yoga

Beginner Rock Climbing & Rappelling

In this class you will be guided through a gentle yoga practice to release tension and melt away the stress of your week. We will practice breath work and short guided meditations to give you the tools to take relaxation with you into your daily life. No experience is necessary just a willingness to learn. Bring your own mat and any props you might need (ex. Blocks or a strap). Enjoy a day of introductory instruction and participation in technical rock climbing. Our playground is equipped with slides, a zipline, rotating climber, swings for all ages & a rope venture vertex. Playground & walking trail is open sunrise-sunset. Main gates may be closed, but alternative parking is available outside of gates.

Our 1.05 mile walking trail borders our athletic fields & playground. Dogs are welcome on the trail but must be on a leash at all times. Dog stations can be found throughout the trail, equipped with waste bags & trash can, so please pick up after your pet!

trip refund & overnight deposit policy FOR ALL TRIP PROGRAMS-No refunds will be given, unless your space on the trip can be filled. If a waiting list exists, RCPR will contact those on the waiting list to try to fill the space(s). If no waiting list exists, it will be the responsibility of the participant to resell their space(s) on the trip. NOTE: a $10 cancellation fee will apply, even if the space is filled. · Trip deposit reservations are available for overnight trips only. A minimum of a $100 deposit per person is required to reserve your space. · Deposits are non-refundable unless trip is cancelled by Rockingham County Parks & Recreation. · Deposit deadline will be one month prior to trip registration deadline. · Following the deposit deadline, remaining balance must be paid in full by the registration deadline. · Any registrations made after the deposit deadline will be required to pay in full. · Failure to pay remaining balance by the registration deadline may result in loss of space on trip. · If a single person out of a double/triple/quad room withdraws from trip or fails to pay balance, it will be the responsibility of the remaining roommates to pay the difference on the new room rate.
