Crossroads Fall Fest

Come out to Rockingham Park at the Crossroads for an evening of activities for all ages! Trunk-or-treat will start at 5pm along with inflatables for the kids to play on, face paintings and hay wagon rides will be offered from 5:30-6:30pm. Food will be available for purchase from local food trucks. The evening will end with a Fall themed movie played on our inflatable screen starting at 7pm. Pumpkin Painting Party

Family BINGO

Come join us for Family BINGO at our new shelter at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads. This is a great way to spend time with family and friends doing something fun and FREE on a Wednesday night! There will be prizes for all winners and all participants must pre-register. Upon arrival each participant will receive one or two cards for the evening. There will be a max of 50 participants. Preschool Hour at the Park

Join us for an hour of fun for your preschooler! This class will be instructed by certified early childhood educator Lauren Simmons and will be packed with age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, creativity and more! No students will share materials and we will practice all distancing measures needed. Little Artists

Do you have a future artist in the making? This class will introduce your child to different art techniques in a fun way. Each class will have a seasonally relevant themed craft/activity and free time to create art as they choose. Instructor is Nicole Kiser. Youth Basketball

Our Youth Basketball will be taking on a brand-new format this season. This early season will allow involvement from our county school’s coaching staffs and players in the administration of a 4-day skills clinic prior to the beginning of their season. The clinics will be held at their local middle school. We will end the season with our basketball bash at EMU. East Rockingham participants will join the Elkton Community Center Recreation League after the clinics are completed.

Girls Basketball:

Fee $40 | Register By September 10 Ages 7-8, 9-10 & 11-13 (Age as of 9/30/21) Season: September-November

Boys Basketball:

Fee $40 | Register By October 15 Ages 7-8, 9-10 & 11-13 (Age as of 9/30/21) Season: November-December

Clinics will take place on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University (at Yoder Arena) and will be orchestrated by the EMU men’s and women’s basketball programs including their coaches and players. This will increase the quality of instruction, provide a much better player to coach ratio and a perfect facility to foster basketball skills development. The clinics will be from 910:30am except on October 16th, it will be held from 11am-12:30pm. This will be the only clinic for ages 5-7 offered (no Winter clinic). All participants will receive a shirt. Fee $40 | Register By September 17 Ages 5-7 (Age as of 9/30/2021) October 2-October 23 | EMU

Co-ed Indoor Volleyball

The winter coed volleyball season will start January 10 and run through beginning of March. Games will be played on both Monday and Wednesday nights. Make-up games are at the discretion of the department and can be played on any night. Teams must begin each match with equal or more females on the court. Space is limited to the first 8 teams. We will have to follow RCPS guidelines when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions. Fee $175 per team | Ages 16+ | 6:30-9:30pm Registration: October 11-December 17 Mondays & Wednesdays | WPMS Season: January-February

Women's Indoor Volleyball

The fall volleyball season will start the week of September 13 and run through mid-November. Teams will be able to choose the night of play, Monday, or Wednesday night. There is an 8team maximum per night, once those spots are filled, we will not be taking anymore registration. We need at least 6 per night to fill a league, teams may be asked to switch nights if there are not enough teams. Each team will play at least two games per night. Playoff champions will receive a t-shirt. We will have to follow RCPS COVID-19 policies. Teams will be informed of those policies before the season begins. Women's Self Defense

Rockingham County Deputies will conduct three 90 minute Women’s Self Defense classes. The classes are three consecutive days set up for basic and more advanced self-defense skills and the entire class is hands on life saving. The classes contains components such as how to better personal awareness, defend against aggressive attackers, how to strike, punch and kick. An instructor will wear a padded “red man suit” on the third day so that students can use the skills they have learned. Adult Recreation Basketball

The adult basketball season, open to men and women, will start early February and run through mid-April. Night of play is listed below; however game days could change depending on the schools schedule. Make-up games are at the discretion of the department. Playoff champions will receive t-shirts. Entry fee must be paid in full at time of registration. Final rosters are due by the first game. Shirt sizes must be turned in at time of registration for jersey/shirt orders. Beginner Wild Caving

BRIDGEWATER, VA Meet up with us for a half-day introduction to wild caving. Participants will learn basic caving safety, underground navigation, and some elementary limestone geology. We will also spend some time exploring, stooping, crawling, squeezing and getting very muddy! Fee $30 | Register By November 5 Saturday, November 14 | 1-5pm | Ages 10+

Still Water Qigong

Imagine you are standing in a still water lake, the water warm and moving gently back and forth. Now imagine you know body movements which will not only relax your body, relieve stress and increase strength and flexibility but will also offer healing energy to all your body systems including your heart, lungs, digestive and so on. This is mindful movement. It is easy to learn and fun to do and it does not damage joints, strain muscles or create shin splints! This form can be done sitting or standing and can be as gentle or as dynamic as you choose. This is truly a moving exercise for anyone! Instructor is Jennifer Stroop Hensley, Certified Tai Chi & Qigong instructor specializing in teaching those with health issues. Beginner Rock Climbing & Rappelling

GEORGE WASH. NTL. FOREST, VA Enjoy a day of introductory instruction and participation in technical rock climbing. Participants will learn some basic movement on rock, and will learn to tie appropriate knots, to belay, and to rappel. One needs not to be a “super-athlete,” but should be prepared for a full day of hiking and physical activity. Meet up and driving directions will be provided. The Medicare workshop is an educational seminar and will answer your questions to help you have a better understanding. AARP Smart Driver

Participants will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road to safely adjust driving to compensate for age-related changes. Persons who complete the course will be issued a Certificate of Completion to be provided to your insurance company for a discount. Please feel free to bring a brown bag lunch to class. All course materials are provided to participants and no tests are involved. Class will be led by certified AARP instructor, Kati Mole. A Day in DC

WASHINGTON, DC Join us for a full day of fun in the Nation’s Capital. There will be two drop-off locations to choose from, the National Zoo or the National Mall. The National Mall drop-off will be at the Smithsonian Castle located within walking distance to the Air and Space, Gallery of Art, Holocaust, Natural History, the American Indian Museums and much more! Visit one, or visit all, the day is yours. The National Zoo is full of animals, exhibits, great food and family friendly activities. We will stop at Fair Oaks Mall for dinner. BALTIMORE, MD Baltimore's Inner Harbor is a hub of activity. In just a few city blocks, you can unearth dinosaurs at the Maryland Science Center, get a history lesson at the Reginald F. Our playground is equipped with slides, a zipline, rotating climber, swings for all ages & a rope venture vertex. Playground & walking trail is open sunrise-sunset. Main gates may be closed, but alternative parking is available outside of gates.

Our 1.03 mile walking trail borders our athletic fields & playground. Dogs are welcome on the trail but must be on a leash at all times. Dog stations can be found throughout the trail, equipped with waste bags & trash can, so please pick up after your pet!

trip refund & overnight deposit policy

FOR ALL TRIP PROGRAMS-No refunds will be given, unless your space on the trip can be filled. If a waiting list exists, RCPR will contact those on the waiting list to try to fill the space(s). If no waiting list exists, it will be the responsibility of the participant to resell their space(s) on the trip. NOTE: a $10 cancellation fee will apply, even if the space is filled. · Trip deposit reservations are available for overnight trips only. A minimum of a $100 deposit per person is required to reserve your space. · Deposits are non-refundable unless trip is cancelled by Rockingham County Parks & Recreation. · Deposit deadline will be one month prior to trip registration deadline. · Following the deposit deadline, remaining balance must be paid in full by the registration deadline. · Any registrations made after the deposit deadline will be required to pay in full. · Failure to pay remaining balance by the registration deadline may result in loss of space on trip. · If a single person out of a double/triple/quad room withdraws from trip or fails to pay balance, it will be the responsibility of the remaining roommates to pay the difference on the new room rate.

CANCELLATION OF ACTIVITY BY THE DEPARTMENT-Persons registered for a program which is cancelled by the department shall receive a full refund or credit for a future program, whichever the registrant prefers. PARTICIPANT CANCELLATIONS-Persons cancelling their registration prior to the registration deadline shall receive a full refund or credit for a future program, whichever the registrant prefers. No refunds will be given following the registration deadline. CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPANT IN LEAGUES AND TOURNAMENTS-Entry fees for team or individual participation in leagues and tournaments are non-refundable or transferable 5 business days following the registration deadline. NOTE: a $10 cancellation fee will apply, even if the space is filled. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for processing and to receive refund checks.
