In this article, published in VOLUME 3 of the Manifesto for the Just City series (Rocco & Newton, 2023), I discuss the dominance of neoliberal governance, the growing unease with politics and an ever-increasing "potential for Fascism", in the words of Naomi Klein (2023). I explain the logic behind the Manifestos as exercises of hope and care seeking to counteract that latent potential with shared visions for the future of our cities, inspired by the ideas of Professor Faranak Miraftab from the University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign.
