Taking lightweight kitesurfboards towards a ridiculously light & strong level! The Black Ribbon technology is the first line of kitesurfboards in the world made with Aerospace technology!

The internal EPS core with only 15 Kg/m3 density is extra compact by the use of a special mold. This unique mold creates a perfectly sealed surface where the epoxy resin penetrates the layup at just the right amount, creating the perfect bond between each layer, but not too excessively that would simply add weight and no specific structural strength.

For added reinforcements without significantly increasing weight, a 3 mm PVC foam layer is added on the deck to maximize impact resistance in addition to keeping the structure as light as possible while a full bamboo bottom sandwich layer creates the perfect blend between ding and dent strength on the bottom of the board. The entire structure is then fully covered with a complete layer of 160 grams Biaxial fibers combining a 45° mix between Carbon and Innegra fibers.

The new Black Ribbon construction provides a lightweight and strong kiteboard while maintaining a significant amount of flex compared to a full carbon layer.

Maximizing lightweight does not only mean making a light board, but making a light board that LASTS. This is what we accomplished with the new UC construction. The EPS core is re-known for lighter weight/strength ratio and memory compared to PU foam but it has one big limit, it absorbs water in case of a hole or a crack through the laminate.

Fortunately, we have put together the best of the both worlds. In order to accomplish this feat, we have cut a 4 cms wide slice that runs throughout the entire outline of the board and have replaced the EPS external outline with 2 x PU outline slices that are glued to the EPS core. By adhering the PU to the EPS, we have created a 4 cms wide “waterproof” band that covers the entire rail, nose, and tail areas, keeping them totally waterproof in case of a crack through the laminate.

The EPS core covers 80% of the board and creates a lively and buoyant center while the PU foam slices on the rails cover about 20% of the total foam volume. The PU rail slices combined with the deck and bottom carbon stringers laminated over the EPS core create a fantastic and unique pop and flex feel.

BLACK RIBBON UNITED CORES OF RRD TECHNOLOGY

The Classic PU construction has been developed to create pure surfboards and to allow control over choppy waters. We have improved the weight and strength of the boards this year. We are now using a hi-volume lightweight pigment in the resin. This type of resin fills up the holes in the foam and reduces the amount of resin content in the glass fibers, making the boards lighter. The Classic boards have low fiber memory and low foam memory at the same time. This low memory gives the boards the right flex e feel. We recommend the Classic PU technology to the riders who love a comfortable pure surfing feel under their feet.

The new LTE technology comes straight from the ultimate molded surfboards technology which consists of a high definition EPS core, made with a high definition “Super EPS“ mold, which is then injected with 36 Kgs/m3 density bit's. This phenomenal core is so strong that you could ride it on the water without any lamination on it! The Full Glass layup makes the board super flexible to ride and really strong to impact resistance, creating unmatched durability.

The Bliss LTD and the Poison are available in the LTD construction. This construction consists of Biaxial Carbon layers on the top and bottom of the board and a CNC shaped Paulownia wood core. These boards are 20% lighter, thinner and more responsive, which provides loads of pop and higher performance due to a higher memory of the Biaxial Carbon fibers. Our premium LTD boards are full of energy and provide the most dynamic ride.

The Classic construction consists of a CNC shaped Paulownia wood core with a lay-up of biaxial glass on the top deck and bottom of the board. A new lamination technology, incorporating a biaxial anti-torsion box, results in reduced vibrations and more control over choppy waters. This construction is perfect for those who need a well rounded board with a consistent and reliable feel throughout it's range of use.

CARBON BIAXIAL GLASS TECHNOLOGY

This is one of the most advanced constructions out there; completely built and assembled in Europe with a new exclusive lightweight technology. It consists of a mix of CNC superlight Airex and wood Core in combination with reduced weight ABS sidewalls and laminated with a pre-preg Biaxial CARBON 220 grms. deck and bottom. You won’t find another twintip on the market with such a perfect strength - weight ratio.

The Juice’s special wakestyle lamination is created to give the board maximum rigidity and stiffness. As in all our boards, we use a CNC shaped Paulownia wood core. We then laminate with two layers of unidirectional carbon stringer on the deck and on the bottom of the board. Flex is a crucial point when it comes to wakestyle boards, that’s why we added a special ‘X’ shaped carbon torsion box on the deck, to prevent any twists. On top of that, especially for boot users, we kept inserts instead of slider rails, and added a carbon biaxial insert reinforcement for those heavy landings. Ultimately, the grind base bottom sheet is what you need to make the board last for ever, even after many obstacle sessions.

The stitching areas are internally reinforced with a strip of adhesive dacron (Insignia), creating a solid base for durability. QUICK AIRFLOW VALVE:

A singular point, one way, air flow valve, inflation and deflation system with a special moulded protection cap.This new valve has a smaller diameter and pliable base that allows the perfect leading edge shape and adds to the lifespan of the kite.

MULTI-POINT LINE SETTINGS:

Multiple points of connection provide a multitude of adjustments to the flying characteristics of the kite such as depower, bar pressure, turning speed, and turning radius. These changes affect jumping, kite loops, slack, drift, and water relaunch.

PU BRIDLE REINFORCEMENTS:

ONE PUMP CLIPS:

One pump hose clamps that prevent unwanted airflow between struts and leading edge. Each clamp is covered with neoprene to prevent wear and damage to the kite.

BRIDLE ANTI-TANGLE DEVICE:

A small batten that connects from the trailing edge to the leading edge that prevents the bridles from wrapping around the wingtip during launching or water relaunching. It also allows for storage of the bridles when packing the equipment after a session.

KEVLAR BRIDLE PADS:

Kevlar reinforcement scuff pads located on the wear points of the leading edge protecting the Dacron from constant abrasion where the bridles make contact with the leading edge.

CNC LASER CUT GRAPHIC PANELS:

Our bold graphics are designed with CNC laser cut panels made with canopy fabric firstly glued and then triplestitched together. This way we can avoid massive screen printining on the kite, reducing it's deteriorating effect and making each graphic panel effectively a reinforcement on the kite body it'self. 45° CROSSED FABRICS LE/STRUT REINFORCEMENTS:

In correspondence of each strut and it's connection point onto the leading edge, we have created a specific 45° crossed fibers double ripstop reinforcement that spreads the load of the strut onto the body of the kite during hard crashes, drastically reducing the potential canopy breakage of the kite.

EXTRA STRUT REINFORCEMENTS:

In addition to the new features, the ‘RRD Global Bar Y25’ is still equipped with special lines called "RIGID THREAD LINES". These are used exclusively on the RRD bars with great success for over 7 years. A product that’s now widely tested around the world, but there is little known about the details by kiteboarders.

All our lines are produced and developed in Italy, with a worldwide patent granted only to RRD.

The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ are the result of the collaboration with an Italian manufacturing company that has more than fifty years of experience in the processing of lines and ropes, using the most recent and innovative exotic fibers, combined with an intimate knowledge of the physical and mechanical properties of Dyneema.

WHY ARE THE ‘RIGID THREAD LINES’ DIFFERENT?

The difference of our lines is that conventional Dyneema braided lines also have excellent breaking resistance characteristics, but can’t keep their original length when under tension. This is due to their entirely braided structure that sees the fibers being crossed over each other with an angle of approximately 30° compared to the load angle (0°). Once a conventional braided line is under tension it's fibers will tend to align towards the load line and progressively start to stretch. A conventional braided line will stretch up to 10% of their original length when under load. (so a 25 meter line can stretch up to 25 cms)

Imagine by comparison the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ like a widely used electric cable. Core copper wires are covered with a plastic protection sock. In the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ copper is replaced by unidirectional Dyneema pre-tensioned fibers instead of braided fibers, covered (like the plastic part on the electric cable) with a very thin braided Dyneema sock to keep the internal non-braided unidirectional fibers in place and protecting them from abrasion. This allows to create an absolutely direct connection between the bar and the kite, since what connects them together is an unidirectional non braided fiber core.

For this reason our exclusive ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have a maximum stretch of 0,1% (so a 25 meter line can stretch up to max. 2,5 cms). The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ of RRD Kites will never be subject to adjustment, since they won’t even stretch under stress-related moves, for example by extreme loops or other radical manoeuvers, and consequently it is impossible to end up with stretched lines and/or of a different length and therefore the trim of the kite remains unchanged through the years.

The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ will always be visually, technically and feeling compact and rigid throughout the course of their lives, maintaining all it's physical and technical characteristics unaltered over the time.

The standard braided kite line has more stretch, which results in different line lengths, power absorption and reduction of performance, especially at the moment where you change the direction of the kite, where the load of the lines reaches it's peaks.

KES THE DIFFERENCE

Another weakness of the standard braided line that ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have turned into a strength are unchanged compactness of the line.

Any new conventional line, has a rigid and compact character because of the resin (generally polyurethane-based) that encompasses it. This resin has a very short life and after only a few sessions, the touch of the product is softer.

This translates into a series of annoying consequences such as:

• The softened lines are more subject to unwanted knots.

• The protection of the line is reduced after each session.

• The braid tends to open and it becomes more fragile, allowing the entry of water which will create small salt crystals inside in case you kite in salt water, which can impair the bearing structure of the line.

WHY ARE RRD KITE LINES INNOVATIVE?

Unlike standard braided lines, the unidirectional structure of ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ provides a fiber memory that is significantly more efficient. A standard braided line under stress combines all 'dynamic elongation’ of the fiber and flattening of the braid, whereas the core unidirectional structure uses exclusively the elastic modules of the fiber.

To reduce the learning curve and make Kite foiling accessible to everyone, we also offer two different additional mast lengths to the standard mast as an optional ‘RRD Aviation Academy’ package for schools and beginners; the standard 75cm mast is included, and the optional 45cm or 65cm and 85cm UNIVERSAL masts are available as spare parts.

One of the most important things is having a wing and fuselage that allow the perfect balance in between your feet. This balance will provide a progressive access to foiling, not a difficult one. The front wing, fuselage, and rear wing, enable the foil to rise out of the water progressively, smoothly and at the right speed. This characteristic increases the stability of the foil and also allows it to easily go down wind, which is essential. HP1 PUMP

The new HP1 pump is a multiple inflating system pump that can act in two modes:

Mode 1 or HIGH CAPACITY mode, or double action mode of 2,3 +2,3 LTS where you can inflate your kite from 0 up to 8 PSI of pressure.

Mode 2 of HIGH PRESSURE mode or single action mode of 2,3 LTS, where you can pump up to 13 PSI of pressure. ( maximum inflating pressure on your kite should be 8 PSI).

The mode 2 is recommended only for kids or lightweight girls in order to help inflating their kite up to 8 PSI of pressure requiring less power on their arms.
