Biography of Robert Crothers Founder and Senior Partner of Great South Bay Advisors

Robert Crothers built many of his lifelong habits through competitive athletics during his formative years. In high school, he participated in football, lacrosse, and wrestling, experiences that required preparation, focus, and accountability. He continued his involvement in lacrosse at the collegiate level, where teamwork and structured training further shaped his work ethic. Physical fitness remains important to him today, and he regularly participates in cycling, golf, and pickleball. Beyond his own athletic pursuits, he has coached hundreds of young men and women in youth sports, emphasizing steady effort, discipline, and personal growth.

Entry Into Financial Services Robert entered the financial services industry in the mid-1980s, beginning a career centered on long-term client relationships and responsible financial guidance. In 1987, he earned his Series 7 and Series 63 licenses, which qualified him to work directly with clients in the securities markets. As his professional responsibilities expanded, he obtained the Series 66 registration, enabling him to act as an Investment Advisor Representative. Serving in a fiduciary capacity requires him to place clients’ interests first, and he views this responsibility as central to his role.
