Title

Bio-material Layers Under Resolution

Academic l MArch Thesis Project Design, Modeling & Robotic Fabrication 2025

Bridging physical and digital

Software l Rhinoceros- Grasshopper- HoudiniFx-Unreal Engine

Pushing the boundaries of architecture at the intersection of computational design, and biological integration. Fabricating with emergent materials and encoding material parameters into digital procedures.

Computational Design

Procedural workflow and aggregation procedures aggregate angular structures to generate hybrid material layered components that reflect functional capacity in correspondence to material allocation.

Materiality - Guiding Parameters

3D Printed BC
3D

Material research and fabrication tests inform a design framework that is reconfigurable, adaptable, and regenerative, placing the material lifecycle at the core of the design process.

Sunlight Exposure

In this project, novel bio-material explorations manufactured in the lab developed a material-based research and feedback design workflow. The potential of Bacterial Cellulose as a dynamic architectural material that diverges from resource-intensive architectures to rich, biological complex designs is explored and designed for in a fabrication platform.

Material responsiveness and compressive capacities.
Thermal Imagery as a monitoring strategy for material performance.

Symbiotic Robotic Printing

Robotic printing of a bio-composite exploring material agency and encoding material parameters into grashshopper scripts. Programmed tool paths challenge traditional manufacture techniques where iterations and additive extrusions produce highly responsive skins. The parametric control of material deposition not only customizes the micro climatic performance of the extrusions but also creates a materially expressive surface that visually registers environmental dynamics.

LDB 2025 LIVING ASSEMBLY

Fabrication

The base timber structure was based on a tree grid of 450 and 225sqmm squares for parametric exponential growth of the model. This was done to permit the continuous addition of elements to the prototype in the future to gain dimension and directionality.

Impulse Cardiology Hospital

Academic 5th Year Thesis Project l Healthcare

Individual 2022

The project is driven by an extensive research study and epidemiology as a response to the trajectory of deaths. By integrating data and real-time observations, these efforts would aim not only to reduce the immediate impact of the disease but also to establish systems for controlling future outbreaks, thus improving overall public health preparedness and resilience.

Concept and Form Generation

Within Egypt, cardiovascular disease is by far the leading cause of death out of all non-communicable diseases. Ischemic diseases are still responsible for approximately 2,000 deaths per year and of the 18,000 babies born with congenital heart disease each year, 5,000 die due to the lack of proper facilities. The availability of medical treatment is not sufficient to meet regional demand, this need was responded to by designing a state-of-the art cardiology and preventive care institution.

Building Plot

Maximum the available building area within the plot

Program Requirements

Organize hospital spaces into distinct public and private zones to accommodate varying functions and user flows.

Building Orientation

Angled building edges orienting wind and enabling extended views while opening up green plazas

Connecting Buildings

Connecting through a central green space to facilitate circulation and integrate nature within

Programmatic and Aesthetic Form

Achieve efficient circulation while seamlessly integrating natural elements into the design for both functionality and aesthetics.

Functional Stacking

Arrange related functions vertically, with inpatient wards positioned above for optimal ventilation and views

Hospital Capacity

The healthcare facility operating with a Bed Ratio of 1.9 beds/population provides 300 BEDS 15% beds dedicated for pediatric patients & 45% ICU beds.

Hospital Core Zoning

Environmental Design l extensive research of LEED certification requirements and implementing sustainable solutions in building design and infrastructure spanning active and passive design strategies.

Building Envelope l Careful consideration into material role in shaping the interaction between the building exterior and the environment and the impact it has on inhabitants and energy performance.

Inspired by both nautical forms and classical theatre, the structure blends water edges with sharp lines, evoking movement and sound in its very shape. The design is a statement of culture integrity, diverse music performances and architectural significance in the role of city architecture.

Concept and Form Generation

Geometry

Rejuvenation of the city in which the project concept stems from projecting and emphasizing its core identity and historical attributes which inspired the design of the opera house. The interlocking sharp edges symbolize the history and authenticity from which the city’s art radiate.

Academic 5th Year l Healthcare Coordination, Design & Visualization

2022

In this project, the medical city housing top healthcare institutions in the developed area embodies the meaning of green healthy cities, designed on the infrastructure of creating healthier habitats for people and integrating functions seamlessly.

Concept and Form Generation

With a concept of community-wide health and wellness, the master plan integrates health-consciousness and lifestyle into all aspects of development. It focuses on creating a distinct “place” rather than a random collection of businesses and neighborhoods by providing a mixed -use collaboration of medical, commercial, and residential uses; an emphasis walkability; accessibility; social interaction and environmental health.

If the purpose of urban planning is not for human health, then what is it for?

Orientation

Wind direction redirecting flow and improving air quality

Accessibility

Way-finding as a decision making factor, ensuring safety of bicycle users and minimizing need for cars.

Facilities

D istributing healthcare facilities across the urban fabric acting as integrated support rather than enclosed facilities

Urban Nodes

Considering user experience within the master planning scale to encourage movement and walkability

Green Heart

Central green plaza attracts urban flow and fosters community while improving air quality and environmental integration

Mixed Functions

Animate zones by providing supporting functions and fostering an inclusive community

The layout reestablishes the relationship between people and their environments because it recognizes that people do not live as isolated islands, but rather are intimately connected to their surroundings and influenced profoundly by a range of factors.”

Professional l Mixed Use

Concept & Schematic Design

An innovative outdoor commercial complex designed to redefine user experience through a seamless integration of architecture, nature, and human-centric design. The project is more than a retail destination, it’s a living, breathing urban space that promotes well-being, connectivity, and sustainability.

Concept and Form Generation

Site Location

Project is located on a main street and surrounded by neighbors on remaining edges

Lines of Vision

Clear visual links between entrances, focal points, and activity areas make navigation intuitive

Building Footprint

Maximize efficient land-use. Primary and secondary pathways are established to create clear circulation routes

Activity Nodes

Central gathering areas are strategically placed to energize the space and encourage movement between zones.

Environmental Analysis

Prevailing wind directions guide the orientation and design of buildings achieving comfort and sustainability

Program Requirements

The design of mixed-use buildings integrates functionality and aesthetics to cater to diverse needs.

The commercial complex is designed to provide a memorable spatial experiences to its users. This human-centric approach informs design decisions that considers end-users as well as investors
