Redefining Youth Leadership and Advocacy
Year 12 student Suki Basford is transforming the conversation around neurodiversity through powerful advocacy, authorship, and charity work. Diagnosed with autism at age ten, Suki has been driven by a desire to push conversations beyond mere information toward true peer-to-peer empathy, and published a children’s book titled Space Travels with Luna. Her book teaches neurotypical primary students how to understand and accept their neurodivergent classmates. Suki’s impact extends far beyond her school gates. She serves on the national Youth Board for the Autistic Girls Network, helping create accessible resources for neurodiverse teens, and was recently invited to present her story to ITV’s neurodiversity group. She also 100 kilometers in May to raise money for the Pets as Therapy charity, who the school is connected with through our very own therapy dog charlie! Through her book, public speaking, and community action, Suki continues to champion a world where inclusion starts with understanding. Read more about her story HERE on the RMS for Girls website.
