The Ronald McDonald House Care Mobile, lovingly known as the Tooth Truck, is a full dental clinic on wheels—bringing care, confidence, and healthy smiles directly to children at school and in their communities.
Who Can Visit The Tooth Truck?
▪ Children ages 3–18
▪ Kids who:
• Qualify for free or reduced school lunch
• Do not have private dental insurance (many families we serve are uninsured)
• Are not already a patient at a local dentist
• Have a completed Tooth Truck application
No matter their age, background, or circumstance, every child deserves a healthy smile.
How It Works
▪ School nurses are the direct connection to the Tooth Truck team. They help identify children who need care most.
▪ The Tooth Truck travels to schools, youth agencies, and even communities up to two hours from Springfield.
▪ Because the clinic comes to school, children typically miss less than 30 minutes of class—and families don’t need transportation or time away from work.
What We Do Best
▪ Provide everything needed to achieve a cavity-free smile, from cleanings and sealants to more complex treatment—so kids leave with healthier, pain-free smiles
▪ Boost self-esteem by repairing cavities and restoring confidence
▪ Teach the importance of brushing, flossing, and prevention. Because healthy habits last a lifetime
What We Are Not
The Tooth Truck is not a dental home And it’s not an emergency clinic. Instead, we’re a bridge—helping children get the care they need, when they need it most.
Healthy Smiles Academy
In addition to providing dental treatment, the Tooth Truck helps children build lifelong oral health habits with this educational outreach program designed to teach students the importance of caring for their teeth by brushing every day in the classroom.
Why It Matters
Tooth decay is the #1 chronic childhood disease, far more common than asthma or allergies. Without treatment, kids suffer—not only in health, but also in confidence, school attendance, and learning.
The Tooth Truck changes that. With the support of our community, we’re not just fixing teeth. We’re giving children back their smiles and their joy.
