“When our son, Sly, was born at just 22 weeks, our world
turned upside down. We suddenly found ourselves living moment to moment, with his life hanging in the balance. During those terrifying early days, the Ronald McDonald House became our refuge. It lifted an incredible amount of stress from our shoulders, giving us a safe and welcoming place to stay just steps away from our baby. There were countless nights when the phone would ring in the middle of the night—doctors calling with urgent, heartbreaking updates. Because of the Ronald McDonald House, I could immediately run down the hallway to be by Sly’s side in his greatest moments of need. That ability—to be close, to hold his tiny hand when he needed us most—meant everything to our family. The Ronald McDonald House itself was a haven of peace amid the chaos. The environment was calm and comforting, and the staff was always friendly, kind, and steady, no matter what we were facing. It was a quiet place where we could gather strength, rest, and prepare ourselves for each new challenge. I honestly don’t know how we would have made it through those first three months—or our entire 199-day NICU journey—without the love, care, and support we found at the Ronald McDonald House. It gave us more than a place to stay; it gave us the ability to be there for our son.”
