Part I: Sunshine
Voice Dance II (Greg Jasperse)
Da, do-way da ya da bum ba-va da day ya da. Do-way ya da da do way ya da ah. Etc...
O,primavera... (Giovanni BattistaGuarini)
[Translation from Italian]
Oh springtime, youth of the year, beautiful mother of flowers, of new plants and of new loves, you return indeed, but with you are not returning the bright and lucky days of my joys. You return indeed, you return, but with you, otherwise, is returning only my dear lost treasure's memory, sad and sorrowful. You are that one, indeed that one that you were not long ago, so lovely and beautiful, but I am not that one that once I was, so valued in the eyes of others.
Ilbiancoe dolce cigno (GiovanniGiudiccioni)
[Translation from Latin]
The white and sweet swan dies singing, and I, weeping, reach the end of my life. Strange and different fate, that he dies disconsolate and I die a blessed death, which in dying fills me full of joy and desire. If in dying, were I to feel no other pain, I would be content to die a thousand deaths a day..
OverHill,overdale (Wm.Shakespeare)
Over hill, over dale, thorough bush, thorough brier. Over park, over pale, thorough flood, thorough fire. I do wander everywhere. Swifter than the moon’s sphere; And I serve the fairy queen, To dew her orbs upon the green. The cowslips tall her pensioners be; In their gold coats spots you see; those be rubies, fairy favours, in those freckles live their savours: I must go seek some dew drops here, And hang a pearl in every cowslip’s ear.
O,MistressMine (Wm.Shakespeare)
O, Mistress mine, where are you roaming? O stay and hear; your true love’s coming, that can sing both high and low: Trip no further, pretty sweeting, journey’s end in lovers’ meeting, ev’ry wise man’s son doth know. What is love? ‘Tis not hereafter; present mirth hath present laughter. What’s to come is still unsure, is still unsure. In delay, there lies no plenty, lies no plenty; Then come kiss me, sweet and twenty, youth’s a stuff will not endure.
I am gone, sir (Wm.Shakespeare,)
I am gone sir, and anon sir, I’ll be with you again. In a trice, like to the old Vice, your need to sustain. Who with dagger of lath, in his rage and his wrath, cries, Aha! To the devil, Oh! Fa la, la la la la, la la la. I am gone sir, and anon sir, I’ll be with you again. In a trice, like to the old Vice, your need to sustain. Like a mad lad, pare thy nails, Dad; Adeiu, good man devil. I am gone, adieu!
Always (Irving Berlin)
Everything went wrong, and the whole day long I’d feel so blue. For the longest while, I’d forget to smile. Then I met you. Now that my blue days have passed, Oh, now that I’ve found you at last. I’ll be loving you, always. With a love that’s true, always. When the things you’ve planned need a helping hand, I will understand, always, always.
Days may not be fair, always. That’s when I’ll be there, always. Not for just an hour, not for just a day, not for just a year, but always.
Beautiful Dreamer (Stephen Foster)
Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me; Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee; Sounds of the rude world heard in the day; Lull’d by the moonlight, have all passed away.
Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song; List while I woo thee with soft melody; Gone are the cares of life’s busy throng; Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea, mermaids are chaunting the wild Lorelie; Over the streamlet, vapors are borne; Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.
Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart, E’en as the morn on the streamlet and sea; Then will all clouds of sorrow depart. Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Danny Boy (FrederickWeatherly)
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side. The summer's gone, and all the roses falling, It's you, it's you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow, Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow, It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow, Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying, If I am dead, as dead I well may be, You'll come and find the place where I am lying, And kneel and say an Ave there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me, And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be, For you will bend and tell me that you love me, And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!
AllMy Trials (Bahamian Spiritual)
If religion was a thing that money could buy, the rich would live and the poor would die. All my trials, Lord, soon be over. Too late, my brothers. Too late, but never mind. All my trials, Lord, soon be over. Now hush, little baby, don’t you cry. You know that man was born to die. All my trials, Lord, soon be over. Too late, my brothers. Too late, but never mind. All my trials, Lord, soon be over.

CantoQue Amabas. (Gabriela Mistral)
[Translation from Spanish by Ursula K. Le Guin]
Life of my life, what you loved I sing. If you're near, if you're listening, think of me now in the evening: shadow in shadows, hear me sing.
…
Life of my life, I haven't changed, not turned aside and not estranged. Come to me as the shadows grow long, come, life of my life, if you know the song you used to know, if you know my name.
I and the song are still the same. Beyond time or place I keep the faith. Follow a path or follow no path, never fearing the night, the wind, call to me, come to me, now at the end, walk with me, life of my life, my friend.
Tipitin
ti pi ti pi tin, tipitin...
[Translation from Spanish]
They call me a thief of love, For having stolen your love, Like a toy a child fancies in passing. With it, I stole your kisses and a lock of your hair, But I've gotten tangled in it and can’t get away.
ti pi ti pi tin, tipitin, ti pi ti pi ton, tipiton, Every morning below your window, I sing this song. ti pi ti pi tin, tipitin, ti pi ti pi ton, tipiton, This is the sound of the strong beating of my heart.
With my guitar in my hand, and in it a bouquet of flowers, I go out every morning, singing of my love. And in my song, I say that I will never forget you, Even if I die,I will not stop singing.
[Intermisson]
ThePromisedLand (Amer.Folk Hymn)
On Jordan’s stormy bank I stand and cast a wishful eye,
To Canaan’s fair and happy land, where my possessions lie. O, the transporting rapt’rous scene that rises to my sight! Sweet fields arrayed in living green, and rivers of delight. I am bound for the promised land, I’m bound for the promised land. O, who will come and go with me, I am bound for the promised land!
The gen’rous fruits that never fail on trees immortal grow; There rocks and hills and brooks and vales with milk and honey flow. I am bound for the promised land…
All o’er those wide extended plains shines one eternal day; there God, the sun, forever reigns and scatters night away. I am bound for the promised land…
When shall I reach that happy place and be forever blessed? When in my Father’s bosom rest? I’m bound, I’m bound for the promised land…
No chilling winds or pois’nous breath can reach that healthy shore: All sickness, sorrow, pain and death are felt and feared no more. I am bound for the promised land… Filled with delight my raptured soul can here no longer stay: Though Jordan’s waves around me roll, Fearless I’d launch away. I am bound for the promised land…
Illumina (Psalm 13.3)
Illumina, occulos meos.
Ne cuando obdormiam, in morte, illumina.
[Translation from Latin]
Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep unto death.
FullFathomFive
Ding dong bell!
(Wm.Shakespeare)
Full fathom five my father lies, of his bones are coral made. Those are pearls that were his eyes.
Nothing of him that doth fade, but doth suffer a sea change, Into something rich and strange. Sea nymphs hourly ring his knell: Hark! now I hear them,
Ding dong bell…
Come Away,Death (Wm.Shakespeare)
Come away death, and in sad cypress let me be laid; Fly away, breath; I am slain by a fair, cruel maid. My shroud of white, stuck all with yew, O prepare it! My part of death, no one so true did share it. Not a flow’r, not a flow’r sweet on my black coffin let there be strown; Not a friend greet my corpse where my bones shall be thrown; A thousand, thousand sighs to save, Lay me where sad true lover never find my grave to weep there, to weep there!
When David Heard (IISamuel18:33)
When David heard that Absalom was slain
He went up into his chamber over the gate and wept
And thus he said; O My son, my son
Would God I had died for thee!
O Absalom my son
Would God I had died for thee!
The Fount of Tears (Paul Laurence Dunbar)
All hot and grimy from the road
Dust gray from arduous years
I sat me down and eased my load
Beside the Fount of Tears
The waters sparkled to my eye
Calm, crystal-like, and cool
And breathing there a restful sigh
I bent me to the pool
REFRAIN:
Lo! a voice cried: "Pilgrim, rise
Harsh tho' the sentence be
And on to other lands and skies
This fount is not for thee
"Pass on, but calm thy needless fears
Some may not love or sin
An angel guards the Fount of Tears
All may not bathe therein."
Then with my burden on my back
I turned to gaze awhile
First at the uninviting track
Then at the water's smile
REFRAIN
And so I go upon my way
Thro'out the sultry years
But pause no more, by night, by day
Beside the Fount of Tears
REFRAIN

Hold On Just a Little While Longer (Trad. Spiritual)
Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Hold on, just hold on! Hold on just a little while longer, everything will be alright. When I was a moaner, just like you. (Everything will be alright). I called and called ‘til I came through. (Everything will be alright).
Hold on just a little while longer, everything will be alright.
Heard the voice of Jesus say. Everything will be alright.
Come to me, oh yes, for I’m the Way! Everything will be alright.
Hold on just a little while longer, everything will be alright.
Sing on, pray on, everything is gonna be alright.
Shout on, fight on, everything is gonna be alright.
Hold on! Sing on! Fight on! Pray on!
Hold on brother, don’t get weary, Hold on sister, don’t get weary. Hold on children, don’t get weary. Don’t get weary! Everything will be alright.

Ain’t got time to die.
‘Cause it takes all o’ my time to praise my Jesus, all o’ my time to praise my Lord. If I don’ praise him, de rocks gonter cry out, “Glory an’ honor! Glory an’ honor!”
Ain’t got time to die
Lord, I keep so busy servin’ my Master, keep so busy servin’ my Master, keep so busy servin’ my Master, Ain’t got time to die.
‘Cause when I’m givin’ my all, I’m servin’ my Master, givin’ m all, I’m servin’ my Master, givin’ m all, I’m servin’ my Master, Ain’t got time to die.

Now won’t you git out o’ ma way, lemme praise my Jesus, out o’ ma way, lemme praise my Lord. If I don’ praise him, de rocks gonter cry out, “Glory an’ honor! Glory an’ honor!” Ain’t got time to die.
The Parting Glass (Trad. Irish/Scottish)
Of all the money that e'er I had I have spent it in good company
Oh and all the harm I've ever done Alas, it was to none but me And all I've done for want of wit To memory now I can't recall So fill to me the parting glass Good night and joy be to you all
Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had They would wish me one more day to stay
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not I'll gently rise and softly call Good night and joy be to you all.
