Welcome to our latest issue of Energy Storage Journal. In this issue we look at four US states leading the march to a decarbonized future with plans — from implementing standards to ratifying legislation — that aim to hurry the adoption of energy storage, despite the withdrawal of the US from the Paris agreement by the nation’s president Donald Trump. While lithium ion is the chemistry of choice in ESS projects, a technology that will surely pique interest in developers comes from start-up Ambi. We look at the company’s liquid metal technology and why it could disrupt the long and short-duration storage markets. We also chat with Exide Technologies’ Tim Vargo about how he is taking the lead giant into the world of lithium ion storage.
