Discovery (Age 2)
Your child will grow in leaps and bounds during the Discovery year. Children will quadruple their vocabulary between their second and third birthdays, so we read lots of books to foster an early love of language. In circle time and in the sandbox, they develop the social and emotional skills it takes to be part of a group, like sharing and taking turns. And as they make wonderful discoveries around our campus, they will be building the independence and confidence to seek out more new adventures. We know that young children learn best through intentional, purposeful play. Let your child’s joyful educational journey begin here.

Readiness (Age 3)
The Readiness classroom is a whirl of activity designed to help your children make connections between their lives and the world around them. Hands-on, sensory play like drawing in shaving cream and harvesting herbs from our garden builds nerve connections in children’s brain pathways, developing their ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Through dramatic play, your child will imagine working in a zoo, a weather station, or a pet shop. By asking questions and exploring answers, your child will experience the relationship between cause and effect: What happens when I mix blue and yellow paint? What happens when I add vinegar to baking soda? What happens when I plant seeds and water them each day? At the end of the day, you may ask your child, “What did you do at school?” You will probably hear, “We just played.” Of course, it’s true—but they’ll also be learning every step of the way.

Prekindergarten (Age 4)
Prekindergarten is a magical time in a child’s journey at ROBS. Every day sparkles with fresh wonders. Basic building blocks will introduce kids to important principles of math, design, and engineering: How do you build a bridge that spans the river? Which vehicle will move down the ramp fastest? Why doesn’t your tower fall down? Your children’s artistry will blossom as they explore the great masters such as Van Gogh, DaVinci, and Picasso. For a week at a time, students enjoy in-depth author studies featuring the very best in children’s literature. We even begin to lay the foundation for solid public speaking skills with small classroom presentations like “show and tell” and larger performances like Chapel plays. By the end of this remarkable year, your child will be ready—ready for all the new adventures, challenges, and successes that await. 8:00-8:15 a.m.
