PILOBOLUS SHADOWLAND II: A NEW ADVENTURE NOVEMBER 19 | 7:30 PM

Shadowland II: The New Adventure uses Pilobolus’ exploration of mixed media to tell a love story about two people and their quest to save a magical bird. Employing animation, video and live shadow theater, this madcap adventure dips its toe into the genres of science fiction, film noir and romantic comedy. Pilobolus is an internationally renowned movement company. For 45 years they have tested the limit of human physicality, exploring the power of connected bodies. In 2009, Pilobolus created Shadowland, the first show of its kind, which has since performed in 32 countries, for over a SPECIAL THANKS TO: million people. Now Pilobolus is proud to present an all-new Shadow adventure.

CANTUS CHRISTMAS 2019 DECEMBER 17 | 7:30 PM

Year after year this holiday concert has filled Legacy Hall with enthusiastic listeners. The performance of this year’s concert will bring this Christmas series to a close. Directed by William J. Bullock, the concert recounts the Christmas story with classical masterpieces and audience carols. A string orchestra, tenor Steven Tharp and organist Jeff McLelland join the chorus and pianist Janie Lee Bullock to present a diverse selection of brief musical works in four program sections: Prophecy, Birth, Epiphany and Aspiration. The works include masterpieces by Mozart, Handel, Brahms, and others; carol arrangements from eight countries; and expressive twentieth-century miniatures. Don’t miss this last opportunity to experience this popular event. It’s the perfect way to prepare to receive the true message of the season. 11

STRAY CATS' LEE ROCKER JANUARY 16 | 7:30 PM

Lee Rocker made his mark singing, playing, standing on, spinning and rocking his giant upright bass as a founding member (along with Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom), of the Grammy nominated music group The Stray Cats, who sold over 10 million albums, garnered 23 gold and platinum certified records, and were music video pioneers of MTV. The Stray Cats' worldwide mega hits “Stray Cat Strut”, “Sexy and Seventeen” and “Rock this Town” have become a part of the fabric of rock and roll. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has included “Rock this Town” as one of the 500 most important songs in rock. Lee Rocker has been consistently touring, recording and performing around the globe since 1980 and has cultivated a fanatically loyal following of rockers, rebels and all types of music lovers. He is known for making his upright double bass appear as if it were a lightweight instrument as he spins, throws it in the air, catches and plays it on stages throughout the world. His concert show is a time for him to tell stories about his days on the road and in the music business for the last 35 years.

Welcome to Margaritaville, where people come to get away from it all—and stay to find something they never expected. With a book by Emmy Award® winner Greg Garcia (My Name is Earl, Raising Hope) and Emmy Award® nominee Mike O’Malley (Survivors Remorse, Shameless) ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE is the musical comedy featuring both original songs and your most-loved Jimmy Buffett classics, including “Fins,” “Volcano,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and many more. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra presents Beethoven’s watershed contribution to the violin world, his Violin Concerto featuring Concertmaster David Coucheron. COMPLEXIONS CONTEMPORARY BALLET: BACH TO BOWIE APRIL 16 | 7:30 PM

Combining technical precision, power and passion, Complexions Contemporary Ballet transcends tradition in a groundbreaking mix of styles ranging from ballet to hip hop. Founded by former members of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden, the company has been featured several times on the hit show So You Think You Can Dance; this season the company brings an exhilarating program set to music from Bach to Bowie to the RiverCenter. Stardust is an â€œutterly transfixingâ€? tribute to the life and music of David Bowie, full of glitter and glam.

Spend a nostalgic evening saluting three of the world’s most beloved musical groups who were instrumental in creating the Rock & Roll/Doo Wop sound: Cornell Gunter’s Coasters ("Charlie Brown," "Yakety Yak," "Poison Ivy"); The Platters featuring 4 of America’s premier singers performing their greatest hits ("Only You," "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes," "The Great Pretender"); and The Drifters, one of Rock & Roll’s founding vocal groups touring the U.S. again under the auspices of their original management team with their 50-year catalog of hits ("Under the Boardwalk," "Up on the Roof," "This Magic Moment," and "On Broadway"). Combined, these three Rock & Roll Hall of Fame groups have been associated with well over forty of the top classic songs in Rock & Roll history. From “Under the Boardwalk” to “Only You” to “Yakety Yak,” very few artists can boast of a richer musical resume. With such incredible musical diversity - from the comedy of Cornell Gunter’s Coasters to the romance of The Platters to the Motown Magic of The Drifters–this show has songs to please every palate, delivered just the way you remember them when you first heard them on the radio.

CANTUS COLUMBUS: THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK

GEMS BY KERN, BERLIN, AND RODGERS & HART MAY 16 | 7:30 PM The professional chorus Cantus Columbus, the renowned Vega String Quartet, and pianist Janie Lee Bullock have gleaned the best from three of their previous collaborations to create an introduction to the so-called Great American Songbook. Made up of arrangements of 26 songs by three of the songbook’s founders (Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart), the concert samples works from 1917 through 1948, including such standards as Isn’t It Romantic, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, I Didn’t Know What Time It Was, I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm and All the Things You Are. The performance completes a sevenconcert project Cantus Columbus initiated in 2007 to survey songs by the five songbook founders (Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, and Rodgers & Hart). 15

MCOE BAND HOLIDAY CONCERT DECEMBER 7 | 7:30 PM | FREE!

For over 50 years, the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band has taken great pride in entertaining the soldiers, military families, and civilians of the Fort Benning, Columbus, and Phenix City communities. The Bandâ€™s performances create esprit de corps among soldiers and veterans, as well as provide patriotic spirit within the civilian community. Currently the MCoE Band, with its eight performing groups, accomplishes over 500 military missions a year in support of the military and civilian communities in and around Fort Benning. This concert is free, but tickets are required for entrance. Please contact the box office for more information.

THE POUT-POUT FISH FEBRUARY 1 | 2:30 PM

Turn the poutiest of frowns upside down in this new musical featuring whimsical puppets and live performers in a sweeping oceanic adventure. When Mr. Fish sets out on a quest to find Miss Clamâ€™s missing pearl, he discovers there is more to him than his permanently plastered pout. This colorful adaptation of The New York Times bestseller is co-conceived, directed, and designed by the acclaimed puppeteers of AchesonWalsh Studios, whose work was featured in Broadway's The King And I, On the Town, and Radio City's New York Spectacular. Writing team includes New Victory LabWorks Residency recipients Christopher Anselmo, Jared Corak, Matt Acheson, and Fergus Walsh.

U.S. NAVY BANDS: CONCERT BAND, SEA CHANTERS, AND CRUISERS MARCH 12 | 7:30 PM | FREE!

Don’t miss an incredible night of music with the U.S. Navy Bands! The premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Navy Concert Band, presents a wide array of marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions and modern wind ensemble repertoire. They are joined by the Sea Chanters, the U.S. Navy’s official chorus, performing everything from sea chanteys and patriotic fare, to opera, Broadway and contemporary music, and the Cruisers, performing music ranging from jazz & standards, rhythm & blues, classic rock, adult contemporary and pop. BOX OFFICE: The box office is located in the RiverCenter lobby and is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and one hour prior to performances. BABIES IN ARMS: Everyone attending a ticketed event, including all children regardless of age, must have a ticket. This is required to comply with fire codes and to ensure the safety of all our patrons. ACCESSIBILITY: RiverCenter is fully ADA compliant. If you have special needs or need

wheelchair accessible seating, please reserve assistance in advance. In addition to accessible parking, we offer patron drop-off at our front lobby for patrons with limited mobility, courtesy transport chairs to assist patrons to their seats, and infrared assisted listening devices. Service dogs are also welcome (harnessed and leashed), but you must notify the box office at the time of ticket purchase so that they may reserve an aisle seat for you. For all other needs, if you are unable to contact our box office in advance, please see one of our ushers upon your arrival. LATE ARRIVALS: Our lobby opens one hour prior to events and seating begins approximately thirty minutes before curtain. At the discretion of management and in compliance with the artistsâ€™ contractual agreement, latecomers will be seated at appropriate intervals during events. PARKING: Free parking is available in the parking garage on Broadway which is owned and operated by the Columbus Consolidated Government.

IMPACTING OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH RIVERCENTER ARTSREACH RiverCenter ArtsReach is a collection of unique shows, events and learning opportunities that connect our community with new experiences, cultures and ideas. Our ArtsReach program is wide-ranging and multi-county: ▶ The Teachers institute supports MCSD teachers using Georgia Council for the Arts Teaching Artists to instruct regular classroom teachers on how to integrate arts modalities into their teaching. ▶ Matinee Shows bring children's musicals and plays based in the finest children's literature to the Bill Heard stage. Last year, 14,621 children from 66 schools attended. ▶ RiverCenter on the Road brings innovative, curriculum-connected programs directly to twenty schools in Alabama and Georgia, reaching almost 10,000 students, preserving instructional time and eliminating transportation costs. ▶ RiverCenter Residencies utilize Georgia Council for the Arts Teaching Artists to integrate the arts across all fields of study and creatively teach basic curriculum to 7390 students in 31 MCSD schools. This program has been recognized and commended by the Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia Council for the Arts.
