Story Animals Through the Year is designed to be simple for shops to carry and easy for customers to love. Shops can run it as a Doll of the Month club or sell panels individually, and every month is supported online through sewastory.com with videos and community led by Jennifer Long. The collectible format encourages repeat visits, and end-of-year free projects (a calendar quilt using two panels, plus an optional flip book with a third) give customers a clear reason to purchase extra panels.

The projects portrayed are virtual images. The look of the projects may differ with actual fabric.

The promise to your customers

Every month features a new Story Animal Doll enjoying the season, with clothing and weather themes that naturally teach children about the year in a fun, family-friendly way. Every release is supported with videos and community hosted on sewastory.com and taught by Jennifer Long, professional doll maker and designer.

What customers receive each month

Each month’s panel features:

• A Story Animal Doll for the season

• A little friend for each Story Animal Doll

• Weather appropriate clothing and accessories that fit the monthly theme

• A coordinating doll quilt

Front: the doll and little friend doing the weather activity (the picture scene)

Back: an open-ended calendar where families can embroider meaningful dates like birthdays and holidays

• A four sectioned border that frames every panel, designed for an optional ruffle on the Doll Quilt or used in piecing the bonus Free Pattern Calendar Quilt.

I’ll confess: golf isn’t my game. But as an artist I appreciate the history, prints, textures and traditions of the game. My brother-in-law Mike is an avid golfer and I can’t help but admire the wide array of plaid pants, eccentric shorts and more that he happily wears on the course. The clubs, greens and gorgeous grounds are also visual fodder for my artist’s eye.

My childhood summers were spent in our Pace Arrow motorhome (it’s hand-drawn and featured in this collection). I spent miles and miles in that motorhome sitting and drawing in my notebook, looking out the window, and seeing the beautiful landscapes of the United States and Canada. Each night, we’d pull into a campground, make a fire, and look at the stars. To this day, the smell of redwood trees and a crackling fire takes me right back to my younger self, being with my family, and making memories. The Upper Pines collection reminds me of the connection that happens when we get outside and spend time in nature and with the ones we love.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit first appeared in a picture letter written in 1893 by Beatrix Potter for a young family friend and it was published as a book in 1902 by Frederick Warne. Twenty-two other beautifully illustrated books followed; introducing a host of unforgettable characters such as Benjamin Bunny™, Squirrel Nutkin™, Jemima Puddle-Duck™, Mr. Jeremy Fisher™ and many others, all drawn from real animals.

A lover of the British countryside, in later life Beatrix Potter settled in the English Lake District, and upon her death, she bequeathed her farms and over 4,000 acres of land to the National Trust, who continue to manage her bequest.
