Face to Face Training Competent Person Survey At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to raising standards and supporting you in creating safe, compliant, and thriving environments. That’s why we’re developing an advanced Health and Safety Competent Person Training Course, and we want your views to help shape it. This new programme is designed specifically for the leisure industry, combining flexible online learning, practical face-to-face sessions, and a final assessed project. It will equip professionals with the confidence and capability to manage health and safety effectively, from risk assessments and hazard identification to compliance and safety culture development.

New Support Services Upcoming Protective Security (Martyn’s Law Launch) On 1 October, we will officially launch the first release of our Security Quality Management System (QMS). This will include a new suite of templates, procedures and supporting reference documents designed to help organisations strengthen their protective security arrangements and align with the requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025. The initial policies and procedures will include: • Protective Security Policy Statement and Governance Framework • Command and Control: a structured emergency response framework that enables organisations to integrate evacuation, lockdown and invacuation arrangements • Lockdown • Invacuation • Evacuation and Dispersal • Communication These documents provide a robust starting point for organisations looking to improve their protective security readiness and preparedness. The QMS will continue to be expanded over the coming months, with additional

policies and procedures including, but not limited to: • Access Control and Denial of Entry • CCTV and Monitoring Operations • Disruptive Activity, Protest and Disorder • Hostile and Nuisance Drone Management • Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and Loitering Management • Suspicious Items and Packages • Bomb Threats and Hoaxes • Welfare and Prolonged Incident Management • Scene Management and Evidence Preservation As a result of the significant development time, research and subject matter expertise required to produce these documents, the Security QMS is not included within our existing packages. However, it will be available to existing clients at a preferential rate. Procedure / Legislation Updates We have released the following documents this month (all documents can be accessed via The Right Place): • Health and safety procedure – Work Equipment - This procedure has been updated to include controls for sun exposure, UV protection, heat stress risk assessment, indoor thermal comfort, emergency response to heat related illness, hydration and rest break requirements, PPE considerations, driving in hot weather, contractor compliance, and first aid expectations. These additions reflect current HSE, WHO and ILO guidance and ensure that both indoor and outdoor working environments are managed safely during periods of high temperature or strong sunlight. • RD Doc – Winter Working and Travelling (New) – consider giving your staff access to this RD-Doc before the winter hits. • RD-Doc - Opening and Closing Facility Checks and Inspections (New) - useful cross check to ensure you are opening and closing your buildings properly. • RD-Doc – Adverse Weather and Temperature Management (New) - includes how to cope with extreme weather and temperatures, this can be used to check your processes are in place • RD-Doc – Indoor Work Environment (Update) - The update provides clearer guidance on indoor workplace temperature requirements, including minimum standards for different areas, expectations for monitoring and cold weather actions, and expanded detail

on ventilation, lighting, traffic routes, glazing safety, and welfare facilities to ensure environments remain safe, comfortable and compliant. • Info Brief – smart glasses update: HERE • Health and Safety Handbook - updated for all employees • Salmonella Food Safety Alert: HERE
Scottish EPC Changes: When the regulations are brought into force, ‘non-domestic’ operators will expect: • A redesigned non-domestic Energy Performance Certificate • Separate ratings for energy performance, energy use and direct emissions • A secondary classification of the buildings main heating system • EPC validity cutting from 10 years to 5 years • A new property report setting out potential improvements • Stronger quality assurance from EPC assessors • The EPC lodgement fee increasing from £12.10 – £15.50 However, there is no confirmed change, there was a planned October 2026 introduction, but this has been delayed to some point in 2027. There are no changes to English/Welsh/ NI businesses.

Right Directions Updates Cyber Essentials In August, Right Directions achieved our Cyber Essentials certification, this reinforces our commitment to protecting our organisations, data, and clients. Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed, industry-supported certification scheme that helps organisations safeguard themselves against common cyber threats. We would like to thank Andy, our Head of IT, for his hard work throughout the certification process and ensuring our IT systems meet the correct cybersecurity standards.
Disability Con ident Commitment Also in August, we became a Disability Confident Commitment Employer. The certificate means we are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive, with offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job and having at least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people. Thanks to Sian, our Head of People, for her efforts and hard work in ensuring Right Directions are disability confident committed.
Active-Net Scotland: On 23rd September, a couple of our team members will be travelling to Scotland to attend ActiveNet. We are excited to connect with industry professionals, learn about the latest developments and innovations, and bring back valuable insights to share with the wider team. We look forward to representing the company and making the most of this fantastic networking opportunity.
