FEATURE STORY
Seager and Walcott: Present and Future When you buy a ticket to a sporting event, you never know when you might see something special. Something easily worth the price of admission. Something that makes you want to save the stub forever. On Tuesday, July 28, everyone at Riders Field witnessed one of those nights.
Seager and Walcott: Present and Future With the Corpus Christi Hooks in town, the first whiff of a memory-making moment came in the fifth inning. For the second time in the 2026 season, the Riders welcomed Corey Seager back to Frisco on a rehab assignment and the Rangers’ All-Star shortstop connected on a towering, opposite-field fly ball that sailed over the fence for a go-ahead home run. The fans were fed. One of Texas’ all-time greats gave them something to cheer for and a reminder of what was returning to the Rangers’ present lineup. In the eighth, the future came calling too. Sebastian Walcott, the Rangers’ top prospect and MLB’s 10th-best per MLB Pipeline, strolled to the plate and joined Seager with a massive swing of his own. With Frisco trailing 3-2, Walcott got a hanging breaking ball in a 2-0 count and waxed it high and deep onto the street past the left field wall, delivering a lead that would last with a go-ahead threerun home run.
Seager and Walcott: Present and Future Home runs from Seager and Walcott in the same night: A good day at the yard and a hard-to-look-past potential preview of what’s to come in future years of Rangers baseball. “The goal for me and Corey is to bring multiple World Series championships back to Arlington,” Walcott said about the thought of recreating the night’s highlights in the Majors one day. “You know, as teammates we’re always trying to win every game, so if we can do that and win every game, why not do it every game? Just hitting behind him and playing with him, it’s also just fun as well.” Walcott, who many view as Seager’s successor at shortstop down the line, never takes for granted the chance to play with and learn alongside the twotime World Series MVP.
Seager and Walcott: Present and Future “Oh, it’s definitely special. You’re looking at a potential Hall of Famer at the plate and you learn a lot just by being around him,” Walcott reflected. “Everything about the way he goes about his business is very unique. He’s not like everybody else; he carries himself differently. He takes a lot of pride in the city and it shows up on the field every night when he’s healthy.” “When he’s playing, you still see the greatness at the plate,” he continued. Just 24 hours after they both lifted the Riders to a series-opening win, Seager and Walcott were back in the lineup together Wednesday, August 29. It didn’t take long for Walcott to leave another lasting mark.
Seager and Walcott: Present and Future In the first inning, Walcott let loose and lashed a deep drive over the berm in leftcenter, leaving the stadium in his second consecutive at-bat. The blast traveled 446 feet on the first pitch he saw to put Frisco on the board. “I’m just stepping up to the plate with a mindset that I’m gonna be aggressive and then just dominate everything that comes my way,” Walcott said about the two home runs. “I think having that confident mindset has been really key for me so far.” Before the mindset materialized, Walcott made good use of his time away from the diamond as he recovered from offseason internal brace surgery that cost him the first half of the 2026 campaign. Two big points of emphasis for the 20-year-old slugger were getting stronger and trying to hit the ball in the air more to turn his hard-hit balls into more home runs.
Nationally recognized. Loved by hearts everywhere.

Seager and Walcott: Present and Future The Bahamas product added 17 pounds of muscle through workouts at Texas’ Arizona facility and copious amounts of chicken and steak consumption, turning extra protein into added pop at the plate. To do that, Walcott worked with the Rangers’ hitting coaches on trying to hit the ball on the ground less and elevate more, looking back at his swing from last year and creating a different plan of attack for 2026. “It’s just a lot of work,” Walcott said about the process of implementing his new swing path. “It’s just constantly, consistently doing it. I believe that through drills and batting practice, you just have to be constantly doing that. There’s gonna be days where it doesn’t feel good and that’s part of it.”
Seager and Walcott: Present and Future And when asked where he feels like he’s at in the process right now? “The results have shown, so I’ll just keep riding that wave,” Walcott said. Anyone in the ballpark in the final days of July would have a hard time arguing that. The ticket stub tells the story: Sebastian Walcott is back in a big way and, as 2026 winds down, he’s a mustwatch event in his own right. In Frisco right now and potentially Arlington in the future. If the world is lucky, with Seager right there as well.
