The Hewlett-Lawrence S o c c e r C l u b ’s f i f t h annual Summer Alumni Game brought former players, coaches and families together on Aug. 2 at Hewlett High School for an afternoon of friendly competition and fundraising. Team Traffic Yellow claimed the champions h i p i n t h i s y e a r ’s matchup, which was o rg a n i z e d b y H L S C coach Armando Vardaro, son of club president
Sabino Vardaro, with assistance from HewlettWo o d m e r e B u s i n e s s Association President and HLSC fundraiser David Friedman. Alumni traveled from across the region to reconnect with former teammates while supporting the nonprofit youth soccer organization. Because the fields at Wo o d m e r e M i d d l e School are under construction, the event was held at Hewlett High
School for the first time. The HWBA provided snacks and drinks, while Bagel Boss donated cookie trays and raffle gift cards. Raffle winners included Christie Goldstein, who won a television, and Hewlett High School robotics
teacher Daniel DuffeyBirkenstock, who received a Kings & Queens Elite Fitness membership. Gold sponsor The Tax Relief Pro, along with several local businesses, helped support the event. — Melissa Berman
