The Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Centre Early Childhood Center welcomed families and community members to its annual art show, inspired by the “Sammy Spider’s First” book series by Sylvia Rouss. Upon entering, guests encountered a detailed recreation of the Shapiro family
home, introducing the setting of Sammy the Spider’s adventures. The exhibit featured more than 1,000 works created by students, highlighting the character’s journey through the Jewish calendar while reflecting the children’s creativity and engagement with Jewish traditions.
The event was developed under the direction of Early Childhood Director Cheryl Karp and executed by art teacher Rebecca Anton
Osder. The display represented months of collaborative work by students and staff. — Melissa Berman
