Lighting up the Five Towns with music
Former Lawrence Mayor dies at 100 page 2
A festive Chanukah drivein concert at North Woodmere Park brought an evening of music, dancing, and Jewish pride. Organized by Chabad of the Five Towns, the event drew more than 400 cars and close to 2,000 community members, on Dec. 17. Families enjoyed the unique drive-in format featuring a lively concert by popular Jewish music artist Joey Newcomb. As music
filled the park, attendees stepped out of their cars to dance with Judah the Maccabee and spirited dancing dreidels, creating an uplifting and family-friendly celebration. Rabbi Zalman Wolowik said that the drive-in concert was part of a broad Chanukah initiative across the Five Towns. Together with Rabbi Meir Geisinsky and Hadassah Geisinsky, Chabad of the Five Towns
hosted more than 20 Chanukah programs, including lively family celebrations, public menorah lightings, youth events, senior gatherings, and personal Chanukah visits to homebound community members. “This Chanukah carried
special meaning,” Wolowik said. “Following the recent terrorist attack in Sydney, we wanted to respond by adding light. We are strengthening unity, visibility, and positive Jewish life throughout the Five Towns.” — Melissa Berman
