Rockville Centre residents and seniors throughout the surrounding communities are invited to attend the Rockville Centre Senior Health & Beyond Expo on Friday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Rockville Centre Recreation Center, 111 N. Oceanside Road, Rockville Centre. This free community event focuses on health, wellness and lifestyle, bringing together trusted local exhibitors, health professionals, businesses and service providers with information and resources designed to help attendees stay healthy, active and informed at every stage of life.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet local organizations and service providers, enjoy lively entertainment, participate in fitness demonstrations and interactive experiences, and hear from experts during a panel discussion followed by an audience Q&A. The expo will also feature raffles, prizes and giveaways, as well as a snack station for attendees. Free Health Screenings: Catholic Health Mercy Hospital will offer free blood pressure screenings, while HearingLife will offer free hearing screenings during the event. Attendees will have the opportunity to check their blood pressure and hearing health while learning more about heart health, hearing care, and available resources. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early. The first 150 guests will receive a free boxed lunch, provided by Bagel Boss. Lunch vouchers will be distributed upon arrival while supplies last.
GOLD SPONSOR first Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Saint Francis Hospital. Dr. Daniel Calnan is a fellowshiptrained neurosurgeon with subspecialty training in minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery. He also specializes in complex spine and brain operations. He was recruited to The Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Center of Long Island to lead the planned expansion of Neurointerventional Services to Nassau County. The Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Center of Long Island is focused on providing state-of-the-art care for patients with cerebrovascular pathology. As part of its expansion, Dr. Calnan serves as Director of Neurointervention and Co-Director of the Stroke Center at Saint Francis Hospital. In these roles, he is involved in protocol creation, personnel recruitment, clinical trial participation, enhancing patient care and experience, and expanding the center’s capabilities toward becoming a Comprehensive Stroke Center. He is also helping create the
Dr. Calnan earned a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from Stanford University and an M.D. from Tufts University Medical School. He completed his neurosurgery residency at DartmouthHitchcock Medical Center, where he also completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular neurosurgery, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania and Director of Neurointervention at Lancaster General Hospital, where he helped earn several awards for stroke care. His research includes numerous publications in high-impact journals and contributions to advancements in bioimpedance monitoring systems for stroke detection and management. His work as a Research Affiliate at the MIT Media Lab’s Biomechatronics Lab reflects his commitment to integrating technology with medical practice.
