Creativity haunts area front yards Each October, Merrick’s neighborhoods light up with Halloween spirit as homeowners transform their lawns into glowing displays of color, creativity, and frightful fun. From towering skeletons and classic monsters to themed inflatables and handmade decorations, each home offers its own twist on the spooky season — some even tying their displays to local charities. Highlights include a character-lined walkway on Yale Place supporting Bobbi and the Strays, a busy scene on Hendrickson Avenue benefiting Ramona’s Gift to Music, and a soccer-themed skeleton display on Woodbine Avenue. Above, pumpkins, skeletons, and glowing bucket lights line the walkway at a home on Yale Place, where visitors are greeted with spooky cheer — and a chance to support Bobbi and the Strays animal rescue. Right, classic monsters come to life at a house on Lincoln Boulevard, with Frankenstein, Oogie Boogie, and a scary witch declaring, “I Smell Children!” Story, more photos, Page 3.
