Former Molloy A.D. Bob Houlihan dies at 81 By BRIAN KACHARABA & NoAH PERETZ of the Herald

Bob Houlihan, whose three decades of service helped shape generations of students and athletes at Molloy University, in Rockville Centre, died on June 8, the school announced. He was 81. Houlihan, a Malverne resident, is survived by his wife, Maysie; his son, Jason, the Malverne Fire Department’s 2nd assistant deputy chief and Molloy’s assistant director of public safety; his daughter, Lauren; and their extended family. “My father possessed an extraordinary character,” Jason said. “His remarkable

patience and deep empathy left a lasting impression on everyone around him.” Houlihan was Molloy’s athletic director, and later its vice president of student affairs. “Bob was part of the fabric of Molloy, dedicating more than three decades of service to the University,” Molloy President James A. Lentini said in a statement. “His impact on Molloy will be felt for generations.” For many who knew him, Houlihan’s greatest contribution was not measured by wins, championships or administrative milestones, but rather by the relationships he Continued on page 5
