The Taste of Marion event, on Feb. 27 at Marion Street Elementary School, drew over 200 gastronomically adventurous attendees, who celebrated the diverse cultures represented in the school community. Each morning, 23-year-old Brooke DeGiulio reports to Rhame Avenue Elementary School with the goal to learn. But she comes to class not as a student, but as a substitute teacher, working on her master’s degree in secondary English education. DeGiulio earned a bachelor’s degree in English Language Arts at Hunter College, and extended her master’s discipline in secondary English education after completing a childhood education track at Touro University. supervise students — they lead lessons, support students with disabilities’ needs and guide students through practical learning.
