STUART RICHNER CEO & Publisher RICHNER COMMUNICATIONS
Welcome to the Herald Long Island Business Summit + THRIVE Awards presented by Bank of America Resource Guide.
As a business owner myself, I understand how challenging it can be to step away from the day-to-day demands of running a company. That is exactly why this Summit was created — to ensure the time you invest here delivers real value, meaningful connections and actionable insights.
Small- and mid-size businesses are the backbone of Long Island’s economy. They drive innovation, create jobs and strengthen the communities we call home. The Herald Long Island Business Summit was launched to provide these businesses with the knowledge, connections, and practical resources needed to grow and compete in an ever-evolving marketplace.
This year’s Summit will feature an exceptional lineup of entrepreneurs and business leaders. We are honored to welcome Steve Madden — Long Island native, founder of the globally recognized fashion brand, and author of The Cobbler — who will share insights on building and scaling a business while navigating the realities of entrepreneurship. Steve will take part in an exclusive live, on-stage interview with Curt Chaplin, Long Island native and nationally recognized television personality and former host of The People’s Court.
The Summit will conclude with Brandon Steiner — legendary sports marketing entrepreneur and founder of Steiner Sports — who will deliver a powerful closing keynote on leadership, sales, and perseverance.
To further support business owners and entrepreneurs, we are proud to partner with Bank of America, who will award three $5,000 small-business grants during the Summit. In addition, the Herald will present $7,500 in Business Growth Marketing Grants to selected attendees.
A special thank you to Vishnick, McGovern & Milizio, LLP, for helping bring the Herald Long Island Business Summit to life, and to Antoinette Biordi of News 12 for emceeing the THRIVE Awards, where we will honor 23 outstanding business owners and entrepreneurs for their achievements.
To all who invest in our communities, create jobss and strengthen Long Island’s economic foundation — thank you. Because of your vision and dedication, the future of our region remains bright.
Sincerely,
Stuart Richner Publisher, Herald Community Media

STEVE MADDEN
Creative & Design Chief
STEVE MADDEN, LTD.
Steve Madden is an entrepreneur, an award-winning designer, a bestselling author, and a business titan whose eponymous company is currently worth 2 billion dollars. Over the past thirty years, the provocative shoe designer built a booming brand and nearly lost it all to “The Wolf of Wall Street,” only to rebound by giving back and creating a global empire.
In 1990, with a mere $1,100 in the bank, Madden followed his intuition and set out to create the next big thing: a company able to anticipate consumer needs and subsequently deliver collections that were both cutting edge and highly saleable. Channeling his creative energy to produce a variety of silhouettes and vibrant styles in his Queens-based factory, quickly his dream became reality, and the Steve Madden brand was born.
Thirty-five years later, with over 200 stores worldwide, Steve Madden has acquired notable brands, including Kurt Geiger London, ATM Collection, Dolce Vita, Betsey Johnson, and Blondo. He has also led standout collaborations with stars including Sydney Sweeney, Nessa Barrett, Cardi B, Winnie Harlow, Ja Rule, Keyshia Cole, Chloe Cherry, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner, as well as launching Steve Madden apparel and fragrances, including Goldie and Rose Goldie. The designer and entrepreneur continues the hustle.
In 2020, Madden released his memoir, The Cobbler: How I Disrupted An Industry, Fell From Grace & Came Back Stronger Than Ever, which quickly became a bestseller. Due to continued interest, the book was re-released in 2023 in paperback with a new cover and additional chapters. His life story was also chronicled in the 2017 Netflix documentary Maddman: The Steve Madden Story, offering an unfiltered look at his rise, fall, and reinvention.
While Madden can recognize success, he is mindful of his humble beginning and the support he has received on his journey to achievement. As a recovering addict as well as someone who has learned to manage his ADD, Madden is an active philanthropist and mentor who supports several organizations that help those in need of a second chance.
A native New Yorker, Steve currently resides in Manhattan with his children and is more present than ever at his company’s Long Island City headquarters, the various showrooms throughout Manhattan and his namesake stores worldwide.

ADAM HABER President + CEO TRELLUS
In January 2021, Adam Haber and his partners Brian Berkery and JR Jensen launched Trellus to help Long Island’s small businesses thrive in a rapidly shifting retail landscape. Recognizing the growing dominance of Amazon and big-box e-commerce giants — especially during the pandemic — Adam saw a need to level the playing field for local merchants struggling to compete online.
Trellus is the only e-commerce marketplace in America offering same-day delivery exclusively for Long Islanders, enabling residents to shop local and receive their purchases quickly from trusted businesses in their community.
Trellus was built with the best interests of Long Island’s independent small businesses in mind. The platform provides the technology and reliable network of gig-drivers needed to offer on-demand, same-day delivery without cutting into merchants’ profits. Unlike national delivery platforms that often take a significant portion of each transaction, Trellus empowers small businesses to manage their own fulfillment affordably and efficiently.
By bridging technology and local commerce, Adam and his team are helping to preserve the character and economic health of downtowns across Long Island—while giving consumers a more convenient and community-focused alternative to corporate retail.

Kindness Times Infinity: The Ultimate Business Strategy
By Cindy Mardenfeld
At Infinity Relations, we’ve spent decades producing thousands of corporate, nonprofit, and community events across Long Island, the United States, and Canada. From major associations to respected nonprofits and corporate leaders, our work often unfolds behind the scenes, sometimes under tight timelines and high expectations, yet always with precision, energy, and genuine care.
Over the years, we’ve learned something simple: success isn’t defined by flawless execution alone. It’s defined by
how you make people feel. When clients feel supported, confident, and valued, trust grows, and that trust lasts far beyond a single event.
In a fast-paced industry, we lead with organization, calm focus, and a true investment in the people we support and elevate. Kindness comes naturally in the way we communicate, collaborate, and show up for others, and that spirit has allowed us to build enduring relationships and consistently deliver programs that reduce stress and amplify impact. As we look toward the future of
business, we believe professionalism and compassion are not opposites. When practiced consistently, kindness becomes more than a value; it becomes a powerful and enduring strategy. In our experience, these qualities form the foundation of sustainable success.
At Infinity Relations, that’s what we deliver - times infinity.
