Why Timing Matters.
By age 7, children have a mix of baby and permanent teeth, allowing orthodontists to detect:
• Bite and jaw alignment issues • Crowding or spacing
• Crossbites or impacted teeth • Harmful oral habits
An early evaluation doesn’t always mean treatment is needed — it helps determine the best timing for care.
Early Treatment May Help:
• Guide jaw growth • Create space for permanent teeth
• Improve facial balance
• Prevent more complex treatment later Some children may benefit from Phase 1 treatment between ages 7–10, including expanders, partial braces, or space maintainers.
