Uniondale school district Superintendent Monique Darrisaw-Akil said she opposed the proposal to build a Diamond Charter School in Hempstead by September 2026.

Chris Borzor, 25, of North Baldwin, never sought the awards, the records or the spotlight that came with his success as a track athlete. There he excelled in the 100 as well as the 200- and 400meter dashes and the long jump. As a senior, he finished fifth in both the 100 and 200 at the New York State Public High School

Athletic Association Track and Field Championships. In his senior year, he qualified for the New Balance Nationals, and got a taste of national competition.
