New playground equipment is to be installed at Lewis Circle in Babylon Village. Although a specific date for its arrival has not been established, Deputy Mayor Frank Seibert said at a Village board meeting two weeks ago that residents are excited about the upcoming improvements. “The playground gets a lot of use for being off the beaten path,” Seibert said who made the announcement at a recent Village Board meeting. He noted that the new playground will be like those in other parts of the village, such as the one at Argyle Park.
“The old playground has been there for decades and will now be replaced with entirely new equipment that is more modernized, featuring plexiglass common in newer structures,” he added. Kevin and Ashley Mullahy, whose three boys are fourth-generation Babylonians, expressed their enthusiasm for the new playground. “We’ve been bringing our boys to the Lewis Circle playground frequently over the past six years,” Kevin said, noting that the equipment there is like what he played on as a child and that it has become “old and weathered. “It’s a great location for a playground,” Ash CONTINUED ON PAGE 7
