Family fun with the fire department Families filled East Meadow Fire Department headquarters on Oct. 3 for its annual Fire Prevention Open House, where volunteers offered safety demonstrations, fire truck rides and lessons on lithium-ion battery safety. The event marked the start of Fire Prevention Week and invited residents to meet local firefighters and learn how to join the all-volunteer department.
