Live music, patriotic tributes and family activities filled the parking lot outside American Legion Post 94 on July 12 as the Babylon post celebrated America’s 250th anniversary with a community festival benefiting veterans. The America 250 Parking Lot Party featured performances by The Roosters, American Ride — a Toby Keith tribute band — and headliner The Tucker Stevens Band. The American Bombshells Trio, a vocal group inspired by the Andrews Sisters that describes itself as “Ambassadors of America’s Gratitude,” also made a special appearance. “It’s an amazing day and it was all possible because of the massive amount of work
from all of our members, volunteers, supporters and vendors,” Post 94 Commander Bob Saenz said. “They have all been instrumental in this.” The celebration also included a military vehicle display, barbecue, food trucks, a mechanical bull, dunk tank and a family activity area with a bounce house and balloon artist. Uncle Sam, courtesy of Worth a Shot Events Inc., posed for photos with guests throughout the day. Jon Taylor, commander of the Sons of the American Legion, said the event was made possible through the efforts of the Sons of the American Legion, Legion Riders, the Auxiliary and the Legion.
