John F. Fronk, age 74 years, of rural Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 15, 1948 to James and Sylvia (Jelinek) Fronk in Hillsboro. John grew to adulthood in the White City area and attended the White City School through the 8th Grade. He also attended the Hillsboro High School until the day he turned 16. He was a lifelong farmer and always lived on the family farm. John was united in marriage to Elaine Wopat on April 18, 1980 in Hillsboro. They were very proud to be able to acquire two family century farms of over 400 acres of which the family continues to operate. He also enjoyed taking care of the cattle on those farms. Another passion was attending farm auctions and flea markets. John was an avid reader, reading hundreds of books over the years. Along with farming John worked other various jobs including meter reading, delivering the Richland Shopping News and for many years he worked with the Town of Union recycling operation, where he met and helped many of his neighbors. John cherished the time with his three grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Elaine; son, Mathew (Thea) Fronk; grandchildren, Jacob, Allison and Austin; and siblings, Janet Olson, Elinor (Gary) La Chapelle, Jim (Dawn) Fronk, Laurence Fronk and Laurie Fronk. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Thomas and a brotherin-law, David Olson. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father Don Bauer officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery – Dilly. Mark Prouty Mark Prouty, 66, of Richland Center, died Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Schmitt Woodland Hills surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 28, 1955, the son of Gerald and Lois (Bristol) Prouty. Mark was most often found riding his bicycle and enjoying the outdoors. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mark lived his life on his terms and enjoyed life to the fullest. Mark is survived by his children: Cherish (Corey) Jongquist, Joshua Prouty, Adam (Dana) Prouty; 9 grandchildren: David, Rylee, Jordan, Brent, Jamey, Zacharie, Alexander, Anthony, Christopher; 7 great grandchildren and one on the way; sister: Connie Prouty; 2 brothers: Matthew (Roberta) Prouty, Stephen (Julie) Prouty; mother of his children: Deborah Burns; many other relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Lois, daughter-in-law, Karen Prouty and grandparents. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 10:00 AM until the service at 12:00 PM. Wilma (Pursell) Zahalka Wilma (Pursell) Zahalka, 87, of Muscoda, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse. She was born on January 3, 1935, the daughter of Clifford and Norene (Judd) Pursell. Wilma graduated from Muscoda High School in 1953. After several jobs in Madison, Rockford and Sterling, IL she returned to Madison. Then on July 19, 1958, she married Louis Zahalka and they had a son Michael. Together they continued farming until 1992, meanwhile Wilma worked for over 20 years and retired from Advance Transformer. Louis and Wilma retired to Ferryville for 2 years before returning to Muscoda to live out the remainder of their lives. She was an active member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, CCW, Burgers in The Park, and Morel Mushroom Festival all of Muscoda. Wilma loved to play cards with her card club. She also enjoyed dancing, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, traveling, and casino trips. Wilma Zahalka is survived by her son Michael (Dee White) Zahalka of Sheboygan; brothers and sisters: Marvin (Kathleen) Pursell of Rock Falls, IL, Naoma Michaelis of Madison, WI, Clifford (Bonnie) Pursell of Friendship, WI, Eleanor Moriva of Beloit, WI; sistersin-law: Marge Pursell of Madison, WI, Marilyn Pursell of Rock Falls, IL, along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis, brothers, Eugene and William Pursell, brothers-in-law, John Leggett, Richard Moriva, John Michaelis, Oswald Halverson, Henry Zahalka, sister Betty Leggett, and sisters-in-law, Anna Halverson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:15 PM. Visitation will also be held at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the procession to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:45 AM.
