Samuel P. Smale, 71, of Richland Center, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at his home in Richland County. He was born March 30, 1950, in Elkhorn, WI, the son of Fredrick and Sadie (Niemuth) Smale. On June 25, 1977 he married Janet L. Hummel. Survivors include his wife Janet Smale of Richland Center; a daughter Season Elliott of Chicago, Il; a son Joshua (Tracey) Smale of La Crosse, WI; 3 grandchildren Lincoln, Archer and Anthem Smale; 6 brothers, Harold, Roy, David, Casey, Lyle, Wayne; 3 sisters, Shirley Bultman, Patty Neislon, Janet Stinson; many nieces, nephews, and a very special nephew Jeremey Bultman. He was preceded in death by his parents. Upon Samuel’s request there will be no funeral services. Sonja Mae “Sonie” Dickson Noble Pope
Sonja Mae “Sonie” Dickson Noble Pope age 78, of Richland Center, Wis., passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 30, 2021. Sonja was born on Jan. 6, 1943, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., the daughter of F. Harris and Lydia A. (Mason) Dickson. From the marriage of Sonja to James P. Noble on July 17, 1965, in Rockford, Ill., two children were born, Sean P. Noble and Heather C. (Noble) Dunne. Sonja and James P. Noble were divorced in 1976, and James passed in 1982. Sonja later met and married the love of her life, Alan C. Pope, in Rockford, Ill., on June 18, 1987. Sonja attended Pittsville High School in Pittsville, Wis., and Central State University in Stevens Point, Wis. Sonja moved to Rockford, Ill., in 1962 and was employed by W.A. Whitney Mfg. Co, Smith Oil Corp, Swedish American Hospital, and as a payroll clerk for Eclipse Mfg. and Atwood Industries, all in Rockford, before retiring in 1996. Sonja enjoyed dancing, reading, sewing, roller skating, and sending monthly letters and cards to friends and family. Sonja moved to Richland Center, Wis., after her beloved husband, Alan, retired in 2010. Sonja loved her two grandsons, Kieran and Logan Dunne, immensely. Spending time with family was her true joy. Sonja is survived by her husband, Alan; son, Sean P. (Mary McDermott) Noble of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Heather C. (James) Dunne of Mount Horeb, Wis.; grandsons, Kieran J. Dunne and Logan M. Dunne of Mount Horeb, Wis.; sisters, Carolyn (Rodney) Freedlund of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Anita Freedlund of Marshfield, Wis., and special sister-in-law, Barbara (Allen) Schmidt of Pittsville, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Dean A. Dickson, all of Pittsville, Wis. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Mary Jane Honer
Mary Jane Honer, 75, of Richland Center, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Pine Valley Community Village surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 7, 1945 in Madison, the daughter of Rudolph and Daisy (Denson) Haak. Mary Jane deeply cherished her family and friends. She was extremely proud of her children, grand-children, and great grand-children. She treasured family time and always provided unconditional love and support. Mary Jane was also a die-hard Packer fan, even though she was currently upset with Aaron Rodgers. Her cries of excitement and frustration could be heard through the halls of Pine Valley every game day. Her family knew that they could call her at any time… unless there was Packer game on. You could often find Mary Jane causing trouble in the halls of Pine Valley with her good friends Skip and Marcella. Mary Jane is survived by her children: Kristi (John) Dameron, Jackie Honer, Jenny (Kerry) Gies; grandchildren: Katrina (Jaxson, Jett), Robyn, Tristan, Alli, Jake; brother: Ken (Deloris) Haak; Pine Valley family, other relatives, and friends. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, son Rick Honer, two brothers George and Joe, sister Doris. A celebration of life was held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Visitation was held from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.
