VIRGINIA ANN (STUDNICKA) BETHKE
March 12, 2021 Virginia Ann (Studnicka) Bethke, 89, of Spring Green, WI died at home surrounded by her family on March 12, 2021 after a brief illness from cancer. Virginia attended UW-Platteville and Eastern Michigan University achieving a Bachelor of Arts in education. She taught elementary school for years in which she was able to spotlight her creative loving personality. Virginia knew the Lord as her personal Savior and touched many lives for His glory. She loved music and playing the piano, gardening, embroidery and working puzzles. Virginia was married to Buddy Bethke who was the love of her life for over 67 years. Virginia is survived by her husband: Buddy Bethke of Spring Green, WI; five children: Susanna (Dick)
Winter of Spring Green, WI; Timothy Bethke of Livonia, MI; Jonathan (Glenn Grace) Bethke of Lewis Center, OH; Sarah (Mark) Lavery of Farmington Hills, MI; Sallie (Don) VanWoert of Spring Green, WI; brother: Paul (Rose) Studnicka of Mt.Horeb, WI; 15 grandchildren; 22 Great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and other relatives. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents William and Sophia Studnicka, and brothers Laverne and Dick Studnicka. Due to COVID-19, funeral services are by invitation ONLY. A private family service was held at Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center on March 18, 2021 at 11:00am. A livestream link was available to view the service on Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service website – prattfuneralservice.com. A recorded link of the service was made available on March 19 via the same website. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. JEANETTE A (HOMUTH) HOMB
March 16, 2021 Jeanette A (Homuth) Homb, age 90, passed away at home, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, on March 16, 2021. She was born on Dec 15, 1930, in Seneca Township, Wisconsin, to Raymond and Helen (Honzel) Homuth, and was the oldest surviving child. She grew up on a farm near Prairie Du Chien, and her entire life she was known for her independence, strength, generosity, and resourcefulness. She was a Caretaker: At the age of 8 she took care of her siblings and the house so her parents could work on the farm. After graduating from HS she quit her job to take care of her mother, and subsequently an aunt and her family, while they recovered from illnesses. When her mother developed dementia, she moved her into her home; she took care of her husband of nearly 65 years, Vernon, during his prolonged illness; and she was a stay-at-home mom for years, taking care of their six girls. She was a Survivor: Jeanette left home at 15, moved into a boarding house, and until high school graduation, worked as a waitress at Harvey’s SteakHouse Restaurant. She also worked
as a clerk at Schultz’s in Madison. Jeanette returned to work outside the home in 1975 as a billing clerk for the Richland Utilities until her retirement in 1994. When she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Shogren’s Syndrome almost 50 years ago, she decided that her illnesses would not define who she was, and that pain would not stop her from living. Even as the joint destruction advanced, she remained at home, taking care of herself, house, and gardens until her death. She was a Volunteer: “There are so many people in need, and by helping others, you will realize how fortunate you are.” Unofficially, Jeanette helped out any neighbor, friend or stranger who asked. Officially, she was a Girl Scout leader and member of the community garden club. She made and donated over 100 pillows to the Cancer Center, and knitted mittens to donate to area schools. At St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, she was a member and past president of the Altar Society, organizing and working at funeral lunches, cleaning the church and rectory, and sewing multiple projects for the parish, like baptismal gowns, communion robes, and repairing vestments. She was a Life-long Learner: Jeanette read and asked experts for help to educate herself about areas she was interested in. She mastered anything involving her hands. Jeanette sewed most of her own and children’s clothes, became an organic gardener long before it was fashionable, and was equally skilled at cooking for gatherings of 250 people as she was making cookies or

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center, Friday, March 26, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. with visitation from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Masks are requested. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, WI.
