Southwest CAP and Local Continuum will be holding its semi-annual homeless count on January 23, 2019. All communities across the nation utilizing HUD funds for homeless and housing programs are required to conduct a count of unsheltered and sheltered individuals and/or families experiencing homelessness during a designated 24 hour period in their area. Volunteers will be out in the community looking for individuals and/or families who are experiencing homelessness, providing outreach, and obtaining information necessary for the count. The collected data will assist the community in understanding the scope and size of the local homelessness, engage in program and service development, and apply for state and federal funding. Southwest CAP and Local Continuum is committed to eliminating homelessness and improving housing options in Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette and Richland Counties.

January 17, 2019 Helen B. Jacobson, age 94, of Richland Center passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Pine Valley Community Village. She was born August 9, 1924 the daughter of August and Tina (Snorek) Hooker. Helen grew up on the family farm in Yuba. When she was twelve years old, Helen learned how to cook for the entire family, and it would become a lifelong joy. She married Hollie Jacobson on August 16, 1944 in Yuba. Together they farmed until Hollie’s death in November of 1970. Helen then worked various factory jobs. She was an extremely hard worker. Helen had a love for flowers, plants, and gardening. She enjoyed

Wedding Dress Fitting Guide Because fashion preferences were once ornate and dependent on precise fits, ready-to-wear clothing really did not become widely available until the early 20th century. Such attire is now available in just about any retail store. Because ready-to-wear clothing is so readily available, the average person may be unfamiliar with custom-made or tailored items. In fact, a couples' wedding may be the only instance in their lives when they require the services of a seamstress or tailor. Fittings are a part of wedding planning, and here's how brides-tobe can navigate the process of finding and being fitted for a dress. • Try on sample gowns. The first step is to make your rounds to various gown shops and try on the samples they have available. Most sample sizes will not be the size you wear every day, so expect them to be ill-fitting. Do not be discouraged. Once a gown is chosen, the dress shop will take your measurements and order the gown according to the manufacturer's sizing guide. Again, this can be shocking, since the size will likely be larger than what you wear in street clothes. Some shops will also order a little larger to allow for
adequate tailoring. • Schedule the first fitting. The first fitting should be anywhere from eight to 12 weeks before the wedding date, according to experts at WeddingWire, an online wedding information provider.
