During the physical exam the veterinarian will quickly learn your pet’s attitude and may suggest they would benefit from an anti-anxiety medication to get them to and through their next visit; these are prescribed for your pet to “take the edge off” the fear and anxiety they might have associated with visiting the vet and make the experience more comfortable for you, your pet, and staff. There is not one perfect technique that works for every animal, it’s the combination and team effort that really makes for happy pets and appointments. A. Most wisdom teeth need to be removed because there is not enough room in the mouth for these teeth. Your teen’s dental x-rays will indicate whether there is enough space for his wisdom teeth. If his mouth doesn’t have adequate room and these teeth are not removed, this can cause overcrowding, crooked teeth, or even an impaction. Having impacted wisdom teeth means that the teeth are “stuck” in the jaw bone below the gum line. This can be painful and increase the risk of infection and the potential to develop a cyst around the wisdom tooth that may damage the surrounding jawbone and neighboring tooth (the second molar). Wisdom teeth may also start to erupt horizontally rather than vertically through the gums. When this occurs, nearby healthy teeth can be damaged. This treatment only takes 15 minutes 1-2 times per week for approximately 4 weeks. It is a very effective and economical treatment that promotes proper healing. Lastly, watch your form.
