Q. Do you grind your teeth? A. Teeth grinding/clenching can be caused by multiple things.
It is most commonly associated with stress and anxiety and often occurs during sleep. Age can play a factor, as can an uneven bite, missing teeth and even back or neck pains. Clenching, much like snoring, can be difficult to identify because people may not know that it occurs or do not realize the signs or symptoms. Your dentist can help diagnose teeth clenching/ grinding by looking for signs of teeth wear, notching of enamel at the gum line, teeth chips or fracture lines and sometimes muscle pains, teeth sensitivities or headaches. We also see jaw pains, headaches or TMJ disorders when symptoms flair up. Teeth loss can and does occur from clenching/ grinding. Q. Why is my pet so itchy? A. Ragweed season hit us hard this year! We all likely know someone with “hay fever”. Many pets
suffer from some degree of sensitivity to airborne or food allergens as well. Possible causes of itching are, parasites (fleas, ticks etc), airborne pollens, dust mites, food allergies and skin infections to name a few. If your pet is scratching or chewing at his/her skin excessively, he/she should be examined by your veterinarian straight away. We will first perform a thorough physical exam to rule out skin infections and external parasites. We will also discuss whether the signs are seasonal or not and discuss food and treats. Mild cases of allergic skin disease may be controlled with topical therapy or antihistamines. More Brian Hoelscher severe cases may require antibiotics to control skin infections in addition to antihistamines or steroids. D.V.M. It is wise to perform allergy testing to help pinpoint the cause of the itching. This can be an expensive endeavor but is worth the cost if we can gain control of the allergic reactions. We will typically institute a food trial as food allergies are very difficult to test for. Food allergies can manifest as skin irritation, hair loss, poor hair coat and sometimes gastrointestinal upset. Watch for the early signs of seasonal allergies and notify us immediately so we can gain control before more severe lesions develop.

While, things have certainly calmed a bit since the craziness this Spring and early Summer, first time home buyers in lower price ranges are likely going to continue to compete against other buyers for homes. Buyers moving up into a higher price range will find buying a little less competitive. This can offer a great opportunity for a move up buyer to sell their starter home and buy something larger, nicer, or in a better location. We also notice the number of active buyers is starting to taper off a bit. This is typical for this time of year, as most family’s want to be closed and settled into their new home by the time school year begins. If you are in the market to buy a home, the next 3 months may be your best opportunity, you’ll have slightly less competition, but higher levels of inventory than we typically see through the winter months.

A. The best answer for athletes is to do both, however if asked to pick one I would say it is better for athletes to receive massage as soon after their event as possible. Post event Massage Therapy helps facilitate and shorten the Jill Unwin, Lee Unwin, recovery process.
