Q. I have a new puppy and am wondering if I should enroll in puppy classes? When should I start them? A. Puppies have a very important socialization period in their development from 7 to
12 weeks of age. It is during this age that puppies learn to confidently interact with other people and animals. This is also the age at which you should expose your pup to many different experiences (walking on different surfaces, using different toys, and exposure to different sounds and noises). This period is also the time to train your puppy to get used to a collar and leash. Puppies should also do lots of play at this age, which helps with their physical, social and mental development. Dr. Barney Smith Many of these things can be done on your own at home, but you will have a better chance of successful socialization if you start your puppy in a class around the age of 10-12 weeks. A structured class allows your pup to learn in a safe environment and reinforces your own puppy training techniques using the right methods. You will want to invest the time to take advantage of this “window of opportunity” for training your dog. The time you spend up front now will pay off big-time in the positive relationship you will have with your dog for the rest of its life. furnace is not working. Is there anything I should do before calling for service?

A. First be sure that the thermostat is in the heat position and the temperature is set above the indoor temperature. Next, check for power at the furnace by turning the fan switch (on the thermostat) to the on position. If the furnace blower does not turn on, check the circuit breaker for the furnace and the switch at the furnace, to ensure they are on. Also check the air filter to ensure it is clean. If you have LP gas or oil heat, ensure that you have sufficient fuel. Some LP gas furnaces have pressure switches that will not allow the furnace to run if the tank is low on fuel. Even though the water heater sitting right next to the furnace lights and runs, the pressure may be too low to allow the furnace to light. If you have a high efficiency gas furnace with pvc vent pipes, be sure that the piping is clear of obstructions such as snow, birds or rodent nests. Q. I’ve recently been diagnosed with diabetes, are there any dental problems that are associated with the disease?

Recently, the housing market has seen some calming and the stock market has seen a lot of volatility. This leaves some people hesitant to jump in and thinking we’re in another bubble. While I do think we are approaching a shift in the market cycle to a more neutral market (compared to a seller’s market the past few years), I’d be really surprised if we saw a big crash in housing prices like 2007-2012. The historic norm when the real estate market shifts is more of a flattening than a decline; not the big drop that we saw 10+ Keith & Kinsey Schulz years ago. The housing market is very different than 2007. The economy as a whole Real Estate Team is stronger, employment is better, housing is not overbuilt, there is still a shortage of entry level homes, and creditors have been more prudent. When the market shifts, housing appreciation likely weakens, but it’s unlikely that we’d see a big dip in prices. Buyers considering a purchase of a home that they’ll only be in for 2-3 years probably want to be more cautious, but buyers in for 5-7 years probably shouldn’t have any concern.

Starting pay, including shift premium, ranges from $13.75/hr.-$17.30/hr. Janitor (1st shift) – performs general janitorial duties including trash collection, floor sweeping and mopping and basic facilities maintenance tasks. Production Associate (2nd shift) – responsible for efficiently packaging various products per specification, while maintaining a sanitary work area and adhering to food safety and quality policies Smoke Room Operator (3rd shift) – responsible for loading and unloading racks of cheese in our automated smoke rooms in addition to cleaning the smoke rooms and associated equipment. Experience in a food processing facility is highly desired. We offer a $500 signing bonus, attendance bonus, a $1/hr wage increase after 90 days and a comprehensive benefits package.
