While not quite over, our summer seems to be wrapping up. We’ve had a great summer and hope that many of you were able to participate in at least some of the many activities and events that were hosted within our community. Now, with the kids going back to school, the Platteville Regional Chamber wants to remind everyone of the importance to shop locally for your back to school needs. Our local businesses are anxious to see customers that have been on vacation and are waiting eagerly for an opportunity to welcome them back to their stores. They will be enthusiastically ready for you to bring in your shopping lists and help you with whatever you need! Please give them a chance to gain your business. Our local merchants support our community in many ways. We need to support them as well. With the calendar turning to September, the University students will also be moving in. We are grateful that they have selected our community as their new home. The Chamber encourages all businesses and community members to make them feel welcome. We truly appreciate these students as they patronize our services and our businesses. Each fall they bring excitement and enthusiasm to our community in a variety of ways. We recently prepared and delivered about 1,000 “swag” bags to the dorms to welcome these new students to our community. We will be inviting them to City Park on Tuesday, August 31st for a Scavenger Hunt and give them some time to check out our downtown and merchants. Welcome one and all!
