Individuals change jobs for many reasons, including greater professional satisfaction, money or a change of location. The financial experts at The Balance say that people change jobs more frequently than many people may think, noting today s average worker changes jobs 12 times during his or her career. It is not uncommon for workers to change careers several times in a lifetime. The notion that the job a person starts out in directly after graduation is the one that he or she will have for the rest of his or her life or at the very least, several years is no longer the norm. Many younger workers migrate between jobs for greater compensation and fulfillment. Older workers, too, are faced with career stagnation. A survey from the University of Phoenix School of Business found 59 percent of working adults say they re interested in taking the leap of a midlife career change. Once the idea for a career change has been planted in a person s mind, he or she may be anxious to jump right in. However, career coaches and other experts say that it is better to take the transition slowly and confirm that changing careers is truly the path to take. Finding the right time for the transition is equally important. These steps can help professionals as they decide if the time is right to change careers. Research the job market. Look into the industries for the field you are considering. Is it the right time for success in this field? Industries tend to ebb and flow. Do not leave a job only to find the next career has few, if any,
openings. Job growth projections are available through resources like the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Assess your likes and dislikes. Another area of consideration is what you like to do. Leaving a job may be based around finding a career that caters to your interests. Make a list of the types of careers you find appealing. To get help, take a career assessment quiz online. Don’t choose a career based on salary alone. Monster.com says that being financially strategic when choosing a new career is important, but shouldn’t be the only factor. Your personal values, experience and other factors such as family should weigh heavily into your decision as well. Use your network. The notion that it s not what you know, but who you know has some truth to it. Successful job-seekers continually expand their professional contacts. This is achieved by going to informational interviews, attending trade association meetings and reviewing trade publications. Target people who work at the companies where you see yourself, so you can get the inside track about job openings. Get new skills. Learn which skills you have that are transferable to a new career and which ones you may need to acquire. Take a course or two or sign up for training seminars. Don t immediately assume you need to return to school before investigating other, less costly avenues. Changing jobs and careers takes effort, but the results can be worth it in the long run.

Construction Begins For Platteville’s New Pickleball Complex
Local and surrounding area pickleball enthusiasts were excited to see that Owens Excavating & Trenching has broken ground on the new courts. In about 6 months the PAPA fundraising committee raised $363,000 to fund the construction cost plus upgrades to build a state of the art, fully fenced & lit 8 courts with windscreens complex including a shade patio. Our local pickleball players club donated nearly half the cost of this full project. The City of Platteville donated $50,000 from non-tax payer dollars along with the land at Legion Park. If the weather cooperates and materials arrive timely the complex will be completed fall of 2021. Plans are being made for a grand opening later in September.

Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County Engages Rural Health Collaboration Specialists to Advance Healthier Lafayette County Initiatives Lafayette County, Wisconsin – (June 4, 2021) If you have noticed a change in the way Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County is communicating with county residents, “that’s great, because we’ve been very intentional in our efforts to respond to community and employee feedback to increase our reach across the county,” said Kathy Kuepers, CEO. Recently, the Lafayette County Hospital Committee asked hospital leaders to provide county residents with information about the community stakeholder engagement initiatives associated with Lafayette County Thrive learning and listening sessions and Healthier Lafayette County. To provide development and support for these initiatives that began in 2020, MHLC engaged Impact! Communications, Inc., (Impact), a nationally recognized rural health strategy and communications firm. Impact! has worked with rural hospitals, health clinics, and organizations for nearly 30 years. Founder and CEO Michelle Rathman is a rural health advocate who focuses on preventing rural hospital closures and helping rural health organizations decrease outmigration, advance internal and external communication, and develop meaningful stakeholder engagement. “When we embarked on the journey to explore the feasibility of a replacement hospital, we considered how critical it was for us to put much more focus on communication and stakeholder engagement. This project is mission-critical and the largest one we’ve undertaken. It was clear to us how essential communication is to our success moving forward,” said Kuepers. Impact’s work with MHLC includes providing in-depth advisory services, content development, graphic design, social media, and website support. They also helped MHLC launch its official Walk with a Doc Chapter and the Living Healthier community newsletter, with plans to launch other stakeholder programs with local schools and businesses to promote wellness and health literacy. In addition, Impact was instrumental in identifying a resource to help the county establish its EMS agency, bringing the Paramedic Foundation to Lafayette County. “As with our contracted services, MHLC works to establish relationships with known and trusted entities to provide expertise on a variety of services where we don’t have a person on staff with the needed expertise,” said Molly Wiegel, COO.“ During a recent Lafayette County Thrive meeting, MHLC outlined a full list of organizations it contracts with to provide services that support its operations. “We are providing this information to our community in our ongoing commitment to transparency. Having the expertise to help strengthen and grow MHLC is a positive for us, and we’re grateful to have a rural-health-specific communications team working with us,” added Wiegel.
