every other day so your body has ample time to recover between workouts.  Choose the right places to exercise outdoors. Exercising outside provides the best of both worlds for many people, providing a chance to get healthy all while enjoying the great outdoors. When exercising outdoors, choose areas that are not remote and where others can see you and offer help if you suffer an injury or have an accident. Boardwalks, public parks and outdoor gyms are safer places to work out than wooded areas or other places well off the beaten path.

Commitments to work and family often take precedence over daily exercise. As a result, many people 50 and over might not have exercised regularly or at all in many years. But as children grow up or even move out, people facing down their golden years are often compelled to get back in the gym. That’s a wise decision that can increase a person’s chances of being healthy and happy in retirement. But before beginning a new exercise regimen, men and women over 50 should take heed of the following safety tips to ensure their efforts are not derailed by accident or injury.  Speak with your physician. The National Institute on Aging notes that even people with chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritis can be physically active. However, anyone with such a condition and even those who don’t fall into those categories should consult with their physicians and receive a full physical before exercising. Such a consultation and checkup can shed light on any unknown issues, and

 Stay hydrated. The NIA notes that many people lose their sense of thirst as they age. But just because you aren’t thirsty does not mean you don’t need water, especially while exercising. Water regulates body temperature and lubricates the joints, thereby decreasing your risk of injury during exercise.

Retirement can be an opportunity to shed an old skin and try on a new one - especially as it pertains to housing. The Pew Research Center found that, in 2015, around 35 percent of people age 65 and older reported using social media. That’s a large jump from just 2 percent in 2005. As of 2016, 65 percent of people between the ages 50 and 64 reported using social media, according to Pew. Social media usage among seniors continues to climb, although young adults still comprise the demographic most likely to use it. Among seniors ages 50 and older, Facebook is by far the most popular social media platform used, followed by Pinterest and LinkedIn.

Dr. Jones graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2005. He specializes in treating disc issues in the neck and lower back, utilizing disc decompression. This therapy has given patients the ability to feel complete improvement with their symptoms.

He has served on the Platteville’s local Elk’s Lodge, United Way Board, and the Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the board of the Platteville Scholarship Committee and the UWPlatteville basketball boosters. Dr. Jones has a close relationship with the local university (UW-Platteville) and works very closely with the trainers and athletes. Protecting Private Drinking Water Sources

Many people do not give much thought to their drinking water or where it comes from, only paying mind if the color, taste or pressure is unusual or if warnings are issued in the event of a water main break or flood. Water for homes and businesses is often sourced from municipal water sources, but private wells also provide water. According to the U.S. Census Housing Survey 2015, 13 million households in the United States rely on private wells to supply their water. Many of these homes are located in hard-to-reach or rural areas where municipal water pipes do not travel.

Dr. Joseph Jacquinot is a native of Dubuque, Iowa. He attended Loras College for his undergraduate studies and received his dental education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in Iowa City, Iowa. He met his wife, Mandi, while attending Loras College. They were married in 2005 and have three children. He is committed to providing state of the art dentistry and has over 500 hours of continuing dental education. He is involved with numerous dental societies including the Wisconsin dental assocation and the academy of general dentistry. Public water supplies are typically overseen by a governing body, such as the United States Environmental Protection Agency. However, these organizations may not regulate private wells, nor will they provide recommended criteria or standards for individual wells. As a result, it is up to individuals to make sure their well water is safe for consumption. Private well owners may be surprised to learn that, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, at least 20 percent of private wells contain contaminants, of which 23 percent have levels high enough to be a potential health concern.

The National Groundwater Association says county health departments can conduct water tests for bacteria and nitrates. Those who want to test for other substances can get a list of state-certified drinking water testing labs. For more information visit water.usgs.gov.
