“I had heard about Rosemeyer Jones Chiropractic from a friend, and had always been told very good things about the clinic. I had been having some very severe pain in the low back and it felt like something was extremely pinched. After going through some preliminary checks it was determined that I had a disk that was bulging or herniated and putting pressure on a nerve. When I finally came into the clinic it was to the point that I could not sit, I could not sleep, I could not pick anything up off the floor. I spent most of my time pacing around everywhere I went with an ice pack strapped to my back, because that at least felt kind of good. The doctors saw me and put me on the decompression table. I have gone to the clinic for 2 weeks and I feel like a whole new person. I am able to do all of the things that I have not done for myself in a very long time. I am so glad that I came into the clinic and so are my friends and family. The care from the staff and doctors at Rosemeyer Jones Chiropractic has helped more than words can express. Thank you.”

The Village of Belmont is accepting lawn mowing bids for the Belmont Cemetery located on the south side of the Village off of W. Platteville Avenue (County Road XX). Mowing services would begin approximately mid-April and run through September as needed, including all trimming and headstone cleaning. An additional quote for grave leveling (dirt provided) and seeding would be appreciated. Bidders are responsible for providing their own equipment, fuel, transportation, and must be able to provide proof of insurance. The Village is not liable for any damage to bidder’s equipment and reserves the right to terminate the contract with the successful bidder at any time if work is unsatisfactory. Heart disease is a formidable foe. According the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease accounts for nearly 25 percent of all deaths in the United States each year. Issues relating to the heart affect both men and women, and an estimated 15 million adults in the U.S. have coronary heart disease, the most common type of heart disease. And heart disease is not exclusive to the United States, as the Heart Research Institute says that every seven minutes in Canada someone dies from heart disease or stroke. Such statistics are disconcerting, but they can serve as a wake-up call that compels people to prioritize heart health. Fortunately, heart disease is often preventable and people can employ various strategies to reduce their risk. • Stop smoking right now. One of the best things to do to protect the heart is to stop smoking. The Heart Foundation indicates that smoking reduces oxygen in the blood and damages blood vessel walls. It also contributes to atherosclerosis, or a narrowing and clogging of the arteries. • Eat healthy fats. When eating, choose polyunsaturated and unsaturated fats and avoid trans fats as much as possible. Trans fats increase one’s risk of developing heart disease by clogging arteries and raising LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. Read food labels before buying anything at the store. • Keep your mouth clean. Studies show that bacteria in the mouth involved in the development of gum disease can travel to the bloodstream and cause an elevation in C-reactive protein, a marker for blood vessel inflammation.

You may be taking new medicines and following many new instructions. You may sometimes feel as if your world has changed. Focusing on three simple tasks can help you manage your condition while you recover and regain your strength:
Goal 1: Know Your Treatment Plan
The goal of cardiac rehab is to help you learn to reduce the risk factors — such as smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, physical inactivity, diabetes and being overweight — that increase your chances of future health problems. The American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology have developed national guidelines to help you reduce the risk of future problems. These guidelines can help your doctor develop a treatment plan — including medicines and lifestyle changes such as diet and physical activity — for all your risk factors. Make sure you know your goal numbers and work with your healthcare team professionals to achieve them.
Smoking -Quit for good
Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death and disability in the United States. Cigarette smoking results in a much higher risk of dying of coronary heart disease. Smoking robs the heart of oxygen-rich blood and increases the effects of other risk factors, including blood pressure, blood cholesterol levels and physical inactivity. Thinking about quitting? Blood Pressure - Less than 130/80 mm Hg
Physical Activity - At least 150 minutes of moderateintensity physical activity (brisk walking, jogging, cycling, etc.) per week. Regular physical activity has many benefits such as helping you quit smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, sleep better, lower blood pressure and increase HDL cholesterol. Doing aerobic exercise — using large muscles of the legs and arms — helps your heart work more efficiently. Weight - Ideal body mass index (BMI) is 18.5–24.9 kg/m2
Waist circumference not more than 40 inches for men and not more than 35 inches for women (Recommendations are lower for people of Asian descent: 37–39 inches for men and 31–35 inches for women.) Blood sugar (glucose) - Normal fasting blood glucose of less than 100 mg/dL
Normal blood pressure is less than 120/80 mm Hg (systolic pressure is less than 120 AND diastolic pressure is less than 80). Elevated is systolic pressure from 120-129 OR diastolic pressure less than 80. High blood pressure is systolic pressure of 130 or higher OR diastolic pressure of 80 or higher. When blood pressure is higher, your heart has to work harder. Changes in health habits such as losing weight, eating less sodium (salt) and enjoying regular physical activity can help lower blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure, staying on your medicines is critical to prevent heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease and heart failure. Monitor your blood pressure as your doctor advises. Diabetes - If you are diabetic, a HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin) below 7 percent is recommended, but your safe range may be lower or higher.
Blood Cholesterol - Get your cholesterol checked and talk to your doctor about your numbers and how they impact your overall risk.
Is Your Drinking Water
High blood cholesterol occurs if your body makes too much cholesterol or if you eat foods that have too much saturated fat and trans fat. For patients with coronary heart disease that are at high risk, treatment focuses on reducing cholesterol. To lower your cholesterol, you may need to change your eating habits and lose weight. Speak with your doctor to see if you should be taking a cholesterol medicine along with making these lifestyle changes. Get tips on managing your cholesterol.
Managing diabetes is important to your long-term health, especially if you have heart disease. Diabetes is best controlled by diet, weight loss, physical activity, medicines and regular monitoring of your blood sugar. Many studies have shown that medicines such as statins, aspirin, ACE-inhibitors and beta-blockers, which lower the risk of future heart problems, have even greater benefit in people with diabetes. Platteville’s Dairy Days Committee Addresses Benefits of New Event Center at Legion Park When Gene Weber, Inspiring Community board member asked Josh Butson, Dairy Days committee president and Legion Park Event Center committee member, why the Dairy Days Committee might want a new event center versus the tent they currently rent for $3000 a year, clearly, Gene did not anticipate the impassioned response that follows. Josh shared non-stop, “Why? We will reduce by 20 to 30 hours the amount of set-up that is currently required to complete the wiring, fencing and stage construction. Simply being able to lock the doors will also enable us to eliminate the five days of 24/7 security we currently hire. Paying a part-time police officer costs about $50 per hour. And, we have many volunteers who together contribute well over 100 hours to the event. Additionally, with a new event center, weather will no longer be an issue. Rain will not be able to blow through causing damage to equipment and inconvenience for the service organizations selling food.” Josh continued, “Our patrons and elderly will have better access to new readily available and accessible restrooms – a significant improvement over today’s marginal facilities. Acoustics will be greatly improved as there will be less sound transfer getting into the building from the tractor pull and the carnival rides. The food vendors (Kiwanis, Noon Optimists and Jaycees) will have better preparation areas. The 4-H Club members currently must heat up water in a tub for dish washing; they will have access to hot water and sinks. Finally, a major safety concern to me has always been the potential of attendees, and particularly children, getting injured on our tent stakes or cement blocks holding the tent in place; this danger will be eliminated.”
