adno=208391 Wisconsin does indeed start here and we can prove it. We’re even home to the Point of Beginnings. While we’re a big part of the reason Wisconsin is known as America’s Dairyland, Grant County has a deep history – literally! The Mining and Rollo Jamison Museums in Platteville tell the tale of how lead mining shaped the community and its university. Go underground and tour an actual lead mine used in the late 1800s. Learn about the railroad industry too with the Boscobel Depot Museum and Fennimore Railway Museum. Or, be a kid again with the Doll and Toy Museum in Fennimore! And our history certainly goes back long before the first European settlers. Mounds built by indigenous peoples centuries ago can still be found in the region. Come celebrate all that makes Wisconsin what it is today.
