It's Leadership Unlimited ApplicaƟon Time! The new class of our flagship community familiariza on & leadership development program, Leadership Unlimited, is now being recruited! Ohio BWC Reimbursing Employers in Drug-Free Workplace Program The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensa on (BWC) is reimbursing employers for workplace substance use-related ac vi es. The BWC is partnering with the Alcohol Drug Addic on and Mental Health (ADAMH) boards to help employers more effec vely manage substance use issues in their workplace. Through the Substance Use Recovery and Workplace Safety Program (SURWSP), eligible employers can be reimbursed for qualifying expenses related to implemen ng and administering a drug-free workplace program which includes: • Development and legal review of employer policies and procedures about substance use issues. • Training for employees to understand substance use and their employer’s related policies. • Training to equip supervisors and managers to be er manage employee’s recovery. • Recovery-suppor ve drug tes ng for prospec ve and current employees. • Access to a free employee wellness incen ve program, Be er You! Be er Ohio! Who is eligible for the program: Employers may apply for the program online and receive immediate determina ons and an email confirma on with addi onal informa on. To be eligible the employer must pay into the State Insurance Fund, be current on all payments due to BWC, and be an ac ve policy. Those not eligible for this program include Self-insuring (SI) employers, employers par cipa ng in a SI PEO, and state agencies. Employers can currently claim eligible expenses back to July 1, 2019. This retroac ve reimbursement period will end July 1, 2022. What counƟes are covered: As of December 27, 2021, employers in all 88 coun es in Ohio are eligible to par cipate in this program. The Ohio BWC directly manages the SURWSP in 65 of the 88 coun es. Alcohol, Drug Addic on and Mental Health (ADAMH) boards manage the program on behalf of the BWC in the remaining 23 coun es. A map and complete lis ng of coun es with a link to ADAMH or the BWC reimbursement process can be found here. Changes to the program: Recently, the BWC restructured reimbursement for drug tes ng. Reimbursement for tes ng is now only available to employers with wri en “second chance” tes ng policies. The maximum reimbursement for tes ng will be capped at $1,500 annually. Employers are not required to choose from the Drug Free Safety Program (DFSP) vendor to receive reimbursement. Area Youth Shine in April! On April 26, the 7th Annual YEA Richland Investor Panel was held. Four smart and savvy young entrepreneur’s pitched their business ideas to a panel of judges. Each student has worked incredibly hard on developing a business plan for their product and presen ng a pitch to request funding. Each gave very impressive presenta ons for their well thought out products (photo on le ). On April 28, we held our first-ever employMEpalooza - Reverse Job Fair For Youth. Students prepared presenta ons showcasing their skills and interests, while over 80 employers visited the students booths to learn more about them. Special thanks to Iheart Media and the Area 10 Richland Crawford County Workforce Development Board for making this event possible! (photo above).
