The Nominating Committee is openly accepting nominations from the general membership for future board seats. The Board of Directors has 4 main roles in our organization: • Set the strategic priorities of the organization (through our Strategic Plan) • Oversee the ﬁnances of the organization • Set the policies that guide the organization • Oversee the top staff member of the organization Our Board is a group of volunteers from around the county and all types of businesses who meet monthly. Richland County Summer Youth Program 2021 EMPLOYERS NEEDED! The Richland County Youth and Family Council and Job and Family Services are looking for employers to provide meaningful work experience to 100 low income youth this summer. The Richland County Youth and Family Council Summer TANF Youth Employment Program is a county-wide summer job program that employs youth ages 14 to 18 years old. Generally, youth will work 20 to 30 hours per week for ten weeks (mid-June to mid-August). Youth participants are residents of Richland County and have completed a work readiness training. Employers will be asked to provide an employee orientation and a worksite supervisor as a point of contact for the youth and council provided worksite supervisor to work with. The Council will manage the youth payroll process by partnering with a stafﬁng agency who will serve as the employer of record. Youth will be supported by the worksite supervisor and may receive assistance with transportation. SUMMER SUPERVISORS NEEDED! The Richland County Youth and Family Council and Job and Family Services are looking for 12 supervisors to provide supervision and support to 100 low income youth this summer placed at various worksites throughout the county. The Richland County Youth and Family Council Summer TANF Youth Employment Program is a county-wide summer job program that employs youth ages 14 to 18 years old. Generally, youth will work 20 to 30 hours per week for ten weeks (mid-June to mid-August). Youth participants are residents of Richland County and have completed a work readiness training. Supervisors will be responsible for working with the youth and the worksites. Reliable transportation is needed along with a good attitude and desire to mentor youth. Two to three supervisors may begin work in early May to prepare for the summer employment program. The other supervisors will begin work June 1, 2021. Hourly rate is $22.50, and a local stafﬁng agency will be the employer of record. Earth Stewardship Celebration 2021 25th Anniversary of Planting Pride in Mansfield/Richland County We all know that Earth Day is Every Day and the Earth Steering Committee is pleased to demonstrate just that, as we celebrate 25 years of Planting Pride in our community. We are pleased to announce April 1st through August 1st have been declared Earth Stewardship Months in Mansfield & Richland County.

How to become involved and Stay Safe… Registration is easy! Recruit volunteers to assist you in the project you choose on the day you’ve designated. Send in a group photo to be displayed on Earth Stewardship Partner websites and social media recognizing you and your volunteers. Send in your photos and the names of your volunteers so they can be added to the drawing. If conducting a litter cleanup, afterward, please provide how many bags were collected. All volunteers will be entered individually into a drawing to win great prizes. Individual certificates for each participant are available upon request. x x

All projects can be completed by practicing social distancing. Have designated “coordinators” for the distribution of supplies. x Have directions clear for pick up of supplies with signage on where to stand while waiting for their supplies. x Don’t forget safe distancing and protective masks/face coverings during pick up of supplies (and project if required). x Remind volunteers to take their temperature, and if they have a fever of over 100.4, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, chills, to please stay home and they can help on next year’s project. x And ENJOY Planting Pride in Mansfield/Richland County.

In November 2020, we kicked off the sixth year of Young Entrepreneurs Academy in Richland County. On Tuesday, April 23 we had the 6th Annual YEA! Investor Panel Event. These five young entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas to a panel of local judges. The judges had the hard task of determining how much start-up funding each business would receive. At the end of the night, we awarded $4,000 between the five businesses. Please take a moment to visit YEA Richland on Facebook and watch the video from that evening. You can leave comments for the young entrepreneurs and share in their success. We are happy to announce that Caleb Keller, owner of Pathify, will be representing YEA ! She has won two AAU Junior Olympic Games titles and seven national championship titles. Hershberger was named a 2015 Sports Illustrated SportsKid of the Year finalist, making her the first ever martial artist to be recognized as a finalist. Natalie has sold over 10k copies of Tough Girls Finish First. She will talk about her journey while training for the Olympics at such a young age and how it is a measured illustration of daily sacrifice.

Spring is springing (we hope), and young people in Richland County will soon be done with school for the summer. There deﬁnitely isn’t a shortage of need in our communities for workers - and we’re working to make sure that our students are aware of all the work opportunities that are available to them. We are holding our Student Job and Career Fair from 1pm to 4pm on May 6 at the Mid Ohio Conference Center. There will be 47 employers and agencies in attendance, aiming to capture the available talent and assist young people and identifying opportunity. This event is open to all High School and College students - please help spread the word to the youth in our community. Along with this event we are excited to annouce the Richland County Youth and Family Council Summer Youth Program. RCYF is actively seeking businesses who are interested in participating by being a worksite, as well as supervisors to support these young people as they work through the summer.
