Employa-palooza - not your ordinary job fair! We know that the workforce crunch is impacting employers of all types, sizes, and locations. We are working hard to help with both short-term, mid-term and long-term solutions for you. In the short-term, I would highly encourage you to participate in our upcoming “Employa-palooza Job Fair”. That’s right, we have changed up our regular Job Fair to attract new potential employees to help your businesses grow. This will be held on Saturday, August 21st from 10am – 1pm at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center (W. Fourth Street). Why did we switch to Saturday? We wanted to make sure we were doing it at time that was convenient for job seekers. Some may be unemployed currently, or underemployed, or just ready for a change. We thought that by changing it to a weekend timeframe that we might catch people more easily. Why did we change the name? We wanted to make it sound more positive and fun that a boring, old ‘job fair’. When trying to attract the younger demographic to the market we thought that would help. A palooza is a celebration, and we wanted to take a more positive, hopeful approach to this – a celebration of new beginnings for employees and businesses. Did we mention this is FREE for employers? All we require is that you be actively hiring and ready to staff your table for the full 3-hour timeframe. We are encouraging you to have some fun with your booth. Think about what we do with the Business Expo where it’s high energy, with some fun themed booths, etc. We’ll be sharing much more about our work to help with mid-term and long-term solutions…but for now, this is a great place to get started! Meet Katherine Talbott Digital Media Marketing Intern at the Chamber Katherine joined the Chamber team for the summer. Katherine is going to be a second-year student at Columbia College Chicago this fall. Katherine is currently studying Television with a concentration in writing and producing. She has made the Dean’s List every semester and has a cumulative GPA of 3.97. In high school, Katherine participated in the NC State College-Now Business Program and graduated high school with an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration. At the Chamber, Katherine has mainly been working with Clint Knight to create digital marketing for local businesses and Chamber events. This internship has led Katherine to use her creativity in a business sense which will help her succeed in the TV industry. She is thrilled to see her creations shining a light on the community. Outside of work and school, Katherine enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing tennis, thrifting, and binge-watching TV shows. After graduating from Columbia, Katherine hopes to move to LA and work in the entertainment industry. Her ultimate goal is to create her own TV sitcom with a live studio audience.

About The New Store The organization was formed in 1996 under the name The Richland County Children Services Auxiliary. It began when community minded individuals desired to help the children associated with Richland County Children Services receive Christmas gifts. The original organization served as an Auxiliary to Richland County Children Services for 10 years, providing Christmas gifts, school supplies, lessons, camperships, and many extras requested by caseworkers to support children under the care and supervision of the agency. In 2007, the organization decided to take on the service that had been provided at The Store on Diamond Street for years. The Richland County Children Services Auxiliary was dissolved and legally changed to Richland County Children's Auxiliary, reflecting that the organization would serve children throughout Richland County, not just those affiliated with Richland County Children Services.

Mark your calendar for the 3rd Wednesday of each month to join a group of dynamic, innovative local women for a time of powerful networking and motivation, as well as a chance to learn more about your community. This collaborative series exclusively for women is being co-hosted by the Richland Area Chamber and the Small Business Development Center at Ashland University. We will be discussing the realities we face as women living and working in a toxic culture, and how to give ourselves permission to take back the quality and joy of our lives. Christy is a Mental Health Therapist, and Addiction Specialist who has worked in her field for over 15 years. She currently works in Private Practice at New Directions Counseling Center and EAP. She received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Ohio State University in 2007, and has been a Supervising Licensed Independent Social Worker as an Internship Field Supervisor to MSW graduate students for Ohio State University for several years. Christy has worked with teens and adults as an Outpatient Therapist in private practice, an Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Counselor, as well as having the opportunity to develop and implement a Chemical Dependency group treatment program for dual-diagnosed adolescent boys in a residential setting, all here in the Mansfield area.
