The Mansfield-Richland Area Educational Foundation The Mansfield-Richland Area Educational Foundation (commonly referred to as the Chamber Foundation) was incorporated in 1980. The mission for the Educational Foundation is to invest in the community’s future success through impactful educational opportunities for both adults and youth focusing on leadership development, economics, and entrepreneurship. The Educational Foundation consists of three components: Leadership Unlimited, Young Entrepreneurs Academy, and economic education. Leadership Unlimited (LU) was founded in 1982 as a planned learning program designed to provide community members of demonstrated leadership ability the opportunity to interact with existing leaders and develop their knowledge of challenges and opportunities for leaders in Richland County. In the 39 years the program has existed, there have been over 1,000 graduates. Since LU was created, there have been additional programs incorporated into the structure, like Leadership Unlimited Membership, Inside Richland County, and most recently Learning Lab. Inside Richland County provides a two-day overview of issues, opportunities and challenges currently facing Richland County. Using the community as a classroom, participants travel to venues throughout the county. Learning Lab was created this past Fall to provide additional monthly leadership development to our community. The program LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT utilities virtual learning options to bring local leaders and national speakers to your computer.

FOR YOUR ENTIRE
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a 24-week program that teaches student in grades 6-12 how to startORGANIZATION and run their own, real businesses. Students brainstorm ideas, decide if they want to work by themselves or in a partnership, write a business plan, pitch their business to investors for funding, and launch their business or social movement. All the learning is real and experiential. Students leave the class as business owners, complete with a registered business and bank account. If this program interests you, please join us virtually for the YEA! Investor Panel Presentation on Tuesday, April 13th from 6:00-7:30 pm. We will be broadcasting the event via Facebook and you can watch by following us at YEA Richland. 2020-2021 Virtual Economic education has been a staple of the Educational Foundation from the beginning. For many years you Learning may have seen the Economic Club, which metCalendar quarterly, and invited world-class speakers to our area for luncheon meetings to discuss relevant topics for our community. 2020 Small Business of the Year
1998 Chairman Norbert Peiker worked diligently to emphasize the importance of the many small businesses that support our area’s economy. Each succeeding Board Chair has continued the tradition of recognizing the valuable contributions small businesses make to our community by awarding the Small Business of the Year Awards. In 2015, the Chamber revamped the program to make new categories for recognition as well as adding other new touches.

ECONOMIC IMPACT AWARD The Economic Impact Award recognizes people, businesses, or organizations for their efforts in supporting economic, workforce, and/or community development in Richland County. This year’s recipients are: Brian P. McCartney – his optimism that spurred him to start an expansion and renovation project at a time when many other leaders were hunkering down. The expansion was more than just business growth, it was also about supporting the community. Michael Murray & Production Design Team at Cooper Enterprises Inc. - When COVID-19 hit and the business world needed to figure out how to adapt, Mike Murray and the Production Design Team applied their expertise from wood to plastic products and designed a whole line of protective materials to assist businesses quickly adapt to the new regulations.
