A new face appears at the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development front office - Patrick Clinage has joined the staff! He will serve the Chamber as Execu ve Assistant to Jodie Perry, as well as manage the sectors of RCDG. Patrick has volunteered with the Chamber for many years as the Co-Director and Board President of the Art Sector of RCDG. Patrick’s involvement with the sector has helped it to expand and he also helped establish a solid board founda on for the sector. Patrick is a graduate of Heidelberg College and Duquesne University where he studied Music. His passion for people is what drives him. Patrick’s career in Mansfield began a li le over seven years ago when he started his job as Box Office Associate and Development Assistant at the Renaissance Performing Arts Associa on, ul mately stepping in to the role of Development Director. He looks forward to ge ng to know the community on a different level and welcomes the new adventure this endeavor will bring! Patrick is very excited to have joined the Chamber and he looks forward to mee ng new Chamber members as well as seeing the many already familiar faces. Patrick resides in Mansfield with his cat, Luci. We look forward to working with Patrick and we hope you get a chance to congratulate him on his new posi on at the Chamber!

In our February BOSS session we heard from Small Business of the Year Award winners DeLee Powell from Bakers Collision Repair, Dave Shealy from The Shealy Group and Julie McCready from McCready Interiors Norwalk Furniture. They shared ps on how they’ve grown their business along with an open discussion. BOSS, Business Owners Sharing Solu ons, is geared toward business owners and helping them con nue to grow their business. If you missed out, join us in May for the next one!

YEA! APPLICATIONS DUE AUGUST 1ST

Help spead the word about YEA! - or even become a mentor or investor! The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a 25-week after school program that takes a group of select, ambitious, and motivated students through the process of launching and running their very own real businesses or social movements. These are not simulations – students just like you are making tens of thousands of dollars from their own businesses, or creating change around powerful social causes, from childhood obesity, to social progress in India. This program provides students in grades 6-12 with the knowledge and skills they need to start and run their own real business. No business experience is needed – just creativity, enthusiasm, dedication and lots of effort. Classes meet each Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 pm starting in October and run through May. Don’t forget to come check out the YEA! Investor Panel Pitch Contest on Tuesday, March 17th from 5:30-8:00 pm at Kehoe (Shelby). This event is free and open to the public. Come listen to each of the students pitch their business to a panel of local investors with the hopes of gaining start-up funding. The application can be found online at www.yeausa.org.

LU APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 27TH Leadership Unlimited (LU) is a planned program designed to provide individuals who have demonstrated leadership ability with the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities of leadership within the larger Mansﬁeld-Richland area. Using the community as a classroom, participants are introduced to diverse areas of the community as well as a broad spectrum of community leaders. LU’s ultimate goal is to build leadership resources within the community. It encourages participants’ entrance into a wider community system of interest to them and provides a broader understanding of how various community systems can and should work. The program runs from September to June, beginning with a Friday/Saturday orientation retreat, followed by nine monthly workday session’s relating to topics in the community. The class meets on the second Thursday of each month from October to June. The application can be found online at www.leadershipunlimited.org.

INSIDE RICHLAND COUNTY SPACE IS LIMITED - PLEASE REGISTER EARLY Inside Richland County offers participants an overview of issues, opportunities and challenges currently facing Richland County. Using the community as a classroom, participants will travel to venues throughout the county providing an overview of: Economic Development

Tourism

Arts

Politics

While not a substitute for the Leadership Unlimited experience, Inside Richland County’s snapshot of the community is beneﬁcial for individuals with limited schedule ﬂexibility (e.g. retail, educators, and medical professionals). The program is designed for a maximum of 20 participants willing to attend both scheduled class meetings. Inside Richland County also serves as a great refresher for LU graduates who would like to reacquaint themselves with issues and opportunities in our county. Dates: May 6 and May 13

Earth Stewardship Celebration 2020 Celebrating 24 Years of Planting Pride in Mansfield/Richland County The Earth Stewardship Steering Committee is pleased to announce April 1st through June 26th have been declared Earth Stewardship Months in Mansfield & Richland County. For 24 years, Earth Stewardship has encouraged businesses, individuals, groups and organizations to Plant Pride, Not Litter in our community.

How to become involved… By registering, you become a partner in Earth Stewardship. As a registered participant, you will receive litter cleanup supplies (a limited supply of collection bags and gloves are available), recognition as a partner, and will also be eligible for prizes and drawings. Registration is easy! You can register your project in any one of the following ways: ¾ Mail the enclosed registration form OR ¾ Register by email to: khildreth@ci.mansfield.oh.us OR ¾ Call the Earth Stewardship Steering Committee: 419.755.9702. Deadline for Registration is May 31, 2020 and projects must be completed by June 26, 2020 .

Once you’ve registered… ¾ Recruit volunteers to assist you in the project you choose and on the day you’ve designated. ¾ Send in a group photo to be displayed on Earth Stewardship Partner websites and social media recognizing you and your volunteers. ¾ Send in your photos and the names of your volunteers so they can be added to the drawing. ¾ If conducting a litter cleanup, afterward, please provide how many bags were collected. ¾ All volunteers will be entered individually into a drawing to win great prizes. ¾ Individual certificates for each participant are available upon request. Proud to be a part of the

9th Annual Taking Pride Contest: *not a requirement to participate in the 2020 Earth Stewardship Celebration. Please submit before and after photos of your project. Photos are due by June 26 Contest categories: Business, Government, Neighborhood, School, Church/Non-Profit Organization Awards: Awards will be given for the top 3 places in each category. Plus, voters will choose their favorite cleanup projects based on photos submitted on the Earth Stewardship Facebook page. The winning entry will receive the People’s Choice Award.
