I am excited to share exciting news with you –Mansfield Rising is again on the rise and I am honored to represent the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development at the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference taking place March 7-13.
Mansfield Rising Legacy:
In 2018, Mansfield embarked on a transformative journey at SXSW, sparking initiatives that revitalized the city. Now, a new group of community leaders is set to explore the innovative realm of SXSW. The Mansfield Rising plan, initiated in 2018, has been instrumental in shaping Mansfield’s landscape, with projects like BrandRichland, Main Street Improvements, Facade Improvement Grants, and more, enhancing the city and serving as models for sustainable growth.
SXSW 2024:
Our trip to SXSW is privately funded by an anonymous donor, underscoring the importance of our mission. The goal is to strengthen and enhance the Mansfield Rising plan, ensuring it aligns with our community’s current needs and aspirations.
Why This Matters:
This opportunity isn’t just about attending a conference; it’s about bringing back ideas and innovations that can continue the positive trajectory of Mansfield. As your representative, I am eager to explore groundbreaking concepts, engage with thought leaders, and collaborate on projects that will contribute to Mansfield’s growth.
Community Engagement:
Throughout the event, the team will be sharing our experiences via Richland Source blogs and Instagram takeovers. I will also be posting to the Chamber’s social media channels with personal updates. Your input and feedback are invaluable. I encourage you to stay connected, share your thoughts, and be part of the conversation.
Looking Ahead:
As we embark on this journey, we envision a future for Mansfield that is even more vibrant, innovative, and inclusive. Your Chamber is committed to fostering an environment where businesses thrive, and the community flourishes.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, let’s build on the legacy of Mansfield Rising and shape an even brighter future for our community.
Rising together,

Falling from heights poses a significant risk in the workplace, prompting the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to implement strict fall protection standards. While these standards are primarily targeted at the construction industry, they apply to all companies conducting work at elevated levels.
Common Violations:
General Requirements for Fall Protection (29 CFR 1926.501) and Training Requirements (29 CFR 1926.503) consistently rank among OSHA's top violations.
Understanding specific regulations commonly violated is crucial for compliance and workplace safety.
Key Violated Sub-sections:
OSHA's Fall Protection standard (29 CFR 1926.501) mandates protection for workers at heights of 6 feet or more using guardrail, safety net, or personal fall arrest systems. Click here to read more...
Recommended Fall Protection Systems:
In addressing fall hazards, OSHA suggests employing various fall protection systems:
Personal Fall Arrest Systems: These systems safely halt a falling worker.
Safety Net Systems: Designed to catch falling workers, reducing the impact of falls.
Guardrail Systems: Erected barriers prevent workers from falling to lower levels.
Training Requirements:
OSHA's Training Requirements for Fall Protection (29 CFR 1926.503) mandate comprehensive training to address fall hazards effectively. Key citations include ensuring proper certification records and addressing inadequacies through retraining. Click here to read more...
Persistent Workplace Concerns:
Fall protection and training continue to be significant workplace challenges:
Regular evaluation of workplace hazards and compliance with regulations are essential.
Addressing identified gaps is crucial to ensuring employee safety and avoiding potential fines. For assistance in identifying and addressing fall hazards in your workplace, please contact Andy Sawan, Risk Services Specialist at Sedgwick: andrew.sawan@sedgwick.com | 330-819-4728.
