A Message from Greg From Greg Timberlake, Psy.D.
Dear Friends, What an honor to have been asked to help the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development in its current leadership transition. Dr. Greg Timberlake The honor begins with Jodie’s election to the Mansfield mayoral seat. Having witnessed the impact of her leadership at the Chamber and the resulting benefits to our communities, one can be confident that her influence, leadership, collaborative nature, and vision will continue to move our communities forward in new ways. Increasing my knowledge and awareness of all that the Chamber/RCDG/ Chamber Foundation are doing and then helping maintain momentum as well as helping to ensure a smooth transition to the next CEO form my first set of goals. I then think of the staff. Over the years I have interacted with many of the Chamber staff, and that has always been a productive and helpful experience. What amazing work they have done. I’ve been sitting in on staff meetings and other meetings now for a couple of weeks and am so impressed with the range and quality of their work as well as their collaborative and supportive behavior. So, the next circle of goals revolves around them and helping them to continue to be successful in whatever ways possible. In addition to attending staff meetings, I have also been involved with several of the Chamber’s Board meetings with community leaders who have been investing their time and energy in helping Jodie be successful and helping to inform the actions of the Chamber activities. I am fascinated and respectful of what I see in these relationships. I am developing greater clarity about how to serve these interests and the expectations and skills I will need to bring forth for this area of assisting in a smooth transition from Jodie to the next leader. My third major area of impact is to assist the new person in their stepping into the lead position at our Chamber. At this time, I can do this by performing well in the areas mentioned above (assisting the staff and board community leaders) and by carefully tracking ideas, considerations, processes, problems, strengths to pass along to the next leader. In the end, Jodie Perry moving on to Mansfield bodes well for the City and the County. Her strong performance as a leader at this Chamber lives on in the able hands of the staff under the careful guidance of our community leaders, who are working double-time in the transition. Winter weather brings hazardous conditions, requiring vigilance for safe driving. Snow, ice, and slippery roads contribute to accidents. In 2021, the US witnessed 395 fatal crashes due to snow and sleet. Prepare by checking weather forecasts, ensuring tires are winter-ready, and maintaining vehicle systems. Equip your vehicle with emergency supplies. Drive cautiously—reduce speed, maintain distance, and avoid sudden movements. Be cautious on bridges and overpasses, avoiding cruise control. Stay focused, minimize distractions, and be prepared for skidding. Familiarize yourself with safe driving practices, consider public transportation, and monitor weather conditions through local news or State Highway Patrol. Ensure all vehicle systems are in working order. Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle. Always travel with a fully charged phone as it could come in handy if something happens.

2024 Ohio Total Solar Eclipse: A Business Opportunity and Celestial Marvel
Are You Prepared for the Eclipse? In 2024, a rare celestial event, a total solar eclipse, will grace Ohio on April 8th. Total Solar Eclipses occur approximately every 400 years, with the last for Ohio dating back to June 16, 1806. This once-in-a-lifetime occurrence will span North America from the Pacific Coast in Mexico to the Atlantic Coast in Canada, bringing millions of visitors to the path of totality. Residents: How to Prepare Residents are advised to shelter in place. Stock up on essentials like food, medicine, bottled water, and diapers to last several days. Gas prices are expected to increase, and the elevated population will make travel challenging, so fill up your vehicle in advance. Refill propane for generators or other devices. Reschedule medical appointments around the eclipse. On the day of the event, anticipate busy roadways and businesses, with large crowds in several areas.
