OUR BCC BOARD:
MR. ALAN HANBURY Board Member
Dear Members,
As we move through the heart of winter, I want to thank you for being such an engaged and thoughtful membership. Your participation and feedback truly help shape the club experience, and we’re excited about what’s ahead.
Recently, we shared an event survey, and I encourage everyone to take a few moments to complete it if you haven’t already. Your input plays a vital role in helping us better understand what you enjoy most and how we can continue to offer events that reflect your interests. We are actively using this feedback to better serve the membership and create experiences you genuinely look forward to
Speaking of events, we’re especially excited for our Super Bowl Party coming up soon. All of our squares have officially sold out, and we’ve added a fun upgrade to the experience an 85-inch television that will make its debut on Super Bowl Sunday We’re looking forward to a great afternoon of football, food, and camaraderie.
As we continue through the cooler winter months, we appreciate your patience with cold temperatures and their impact on course playing conditions. While the weather may present some challenges, we are looking ahead to the warmer days we all move to Florida for and the improved playing conditions that come with them.
Our club thrives when members are actively engaged, and we encourage everyone to make the most of their membership by spending time on the course, attending events, and enjoying the club’s amenities. Your participation plays an important role in keeping the club vibrant, and we look forward to seeing you around the club often.
Warm Regards,
CRAIG CHIBBARO CLUB MANAGER

Cart Etiquette Reminder: Protect the Turf
As we move through our current climate conditions, it’s more important than ever that we all do our part to protect healthy turf especially around green and tee complexes.
When parking near greens and tees, please keep all four tires on the cart path.
We continue to see carts stopping with two tires off the path, and that repeated traffic in sensitive areas is detrimental to turf health. A small habit change makes a big difference for the golf course and for everyone who plays it.
Pull Cart Reminder:
Whether motorized or not, pull carts must not cross over or be on the putting greens at any time. Thank you for your help with this.
To help our team prepare properly each day—and to ensure the tee sheet is fair and fully available to the membership please remember: You have until 5:00 PM the day prior to reconcile names on the tee sheet. You can update your group on your own, or simply call the golf shop and we’ll assist.
This is imperative for daily operations (staffing, cart staging, pace management, and service), but just as importantly: openings that aren’t properly reconciled can’t be booked by other members, which is a disservice to the membership as a whole.
One additional reminder: Please do not place four names on a tee time simply to avoid being paired or having other members join you We understand some members prefer to play as a single or twosome, but BCC is a club built on community meeting new people and cultivating relationships is a big part of the experience. This is also very important as we are in season, and would love to accommodate as many members as possible. If you’re committed to playing as a single or twosome, we strongly recommend channeling those tee times into the afternoon or choosing days/times that naturally support smaller groups.
Recently the club introduced new bag tags that include your member name, joining year, and bag slot (if you store your bag or pull cart), as well as for those whose private carts we store. We’ve completed new tags for:
All members with bag or pull cart storage
All members with private cart storage
If you do not have a new bag tag and would like one, please stop by the golf shop and we will make one for you. It only takes a few minutes.
Introducing “The Ross” — Men’s Major Championship Trophies
We’re excited to introduce “The Ross”, our new men’s championship trophy at Bradenton Country Club. Members will contend for The Ross at the Fall Classic, Fall Member Guest, Member-Member, Gross & Net Club Championship, and the Spring Invitational. You will also earn a Ross if you win the Men's Player of the Year Award.
As we continue building consistency, tradition, and the foundation for BCC’s next century, The Ross will become a central piece of our competitive identity —something every player recognizes and strives for.
The goal moving forward: how many “Ross’s” can you collect at BCC!
Nick Campbell Director of Golf

Recent colder and windier conditions have produced firmer turf and quicker greens. Rather than attacking pins directly, focus on where the ball will finish, not where it first lands. Using the ground around greens and accepting extra release on approaches can lead to more predictable results. On the putting surfaces, commit to your line and let the speed of the greens work for you patience and touch are rewarded in these conditions.
Dear Members,
As we typically see this time of year, weather has cooled off and within the greens department we are working diligently on controlling cart traffic and rough health. We are still experiencing drought conditions as we received 1-2 rain events in January at less than .75 inches. The extended weather forecast does show many nights/mornings in the 40’s and highs not much above 65 degrees. We plan to increase rope and stake barriers and moving carts around as well as we can. It will be especially important for golf carts to strictly enter and exit at our designated posts. The greens team will be regimented on moving them every few days to disperse wear
Putting greens continue to look and perform well as we get into the height of the season and cooler weather I feel the addition of our new Irrigation injection system and aggressive aerification system this summer has paid off greatly Turf density, color, and root growth is far improved from the previous seasons We will continue to assess weather patterns and continue to lightly topdress and needle tine areas as we can We are also finding the Visage program is allowing us to create better pin placements and the ability to move them more frequently and efficiently This is a great tool for dispersing traffic and creatively using the entire putting surface where pin placements are available.
On the golf course, the topic of the month certainly has to be turf density and health, particularly on our rough areas. We are seeing elevated compaction this year due to our drought conditions. With adverse conditions we experienced in those pertinent months of August through October, it has been difficult to overcome I want to add most of the thinning conditions are occurring with “wild” common bermudagrasses and other “off type” grasses we possess These grasses get more ill affected in these conditions Where we have put Bimini Bermuda sod and where we have pure celebration turf it looks normal for this time of year As stated above, we plan to increase traffic control and continue fertility practices when weather permits We are making our rounds controlling poa annua and preventative sprays for bermudagrass mites As for other items, we will continue keep up with attention to details; keeping bunkers and cart paths consistent and aesthetically pleasing
Our closing schedule for this coming summer has been adopted, and we are already making plans to mitigate what we are currently experiencing. We will need to increase aerification more so this summer to offset increased compaction. We will continue to update the greens committee and board our strategies moving forward.
Yours truly,

Dear Members,
The new year is well underway, and it is great to see the courts consistently busy. I’ve enjoyed watching the increased activity across all our programs; the energy and life everyone is bringing to the club right now makes for a fantastic atmosphere.
Our league season is in full swing, and I want to wish the best of luck to all those competing. We are currently well-represented by the Ladies Sunshine Social and our USTA 3 5 Ladies team, as well as the Men’s Suncoast 45s and 60s teams. Thank you to everyone participating for representing Bradenton Country Club so well
As we continue through this busy season, I would like to share a few quick reminders to help keep operations running smoothly for everyone:
* Guest Registration: Please ensure all guests are registered prior to play This is a small but vital step in protecting the integrity of your memberships and ensuring the club remains exclusive to our community
* Proper Footwear: A gentle reminder to wear tennis/pickle-specific footwear on the courts. Proper shoes significantly reduce wear and tear, which minimizes maintenance time and allows us to provide better court turnover for the next group.
* Court Bookings: Please continue to use the new app’s booking function for all reservations. It is the most accurate way to manage your schedule and stay updated on court availability.
Thank you for your cooperation and for making the start of this year so great I look forward to seeing you all out on the courts soon.
Keep warm,
Rob Blackburn Director of Racquet Sports
