Your Support in Action:

A Year of Transformation at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability

You made an incredible difference to the lives of our patients and residents over the last year. Here is a snapshot of how your generosity changed lives:

£7,600 raised - providing 76 Music Therapy sessions , bringing joy and communication through sound.

£16,700 raised - providing 67 CoDA (Community Dance) sessions across all our wards, promoting movement, expression, and connection.

£12,600 raised - providing 126 memorable day trips for patients, offering vital opportunities for community access and new experiences.

£10,000 raised - purchasing 83 essential patient slings , ensuring safer, more comfortable transfers and care.

£12,200 raised - providing 122 Assistive Technology sessions in our Compass computer room, unlocking communication and independence.

Thank you for helping us deliver this exceptional care. While we celebrate these achievements, we have so much more to do in 2026.

Investing in Hope: Our Appeal for 2026

Last year, the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability welcomed 192 patients , each on a unique journey towards rehabilitation or long-term care. They are patients like Sarah, who appreciated her first haircut in our donor-supported salon, after a long period in intensive care, and Amy, who survived a stroke, and now uses Assistive Technology to communicate with her family.

The RHN hair salon is a lifeline, offering a space speci cally designed for the needs of patients like Sarah.

Thanks to Assistive Technology, Amy can communicate with her family.

In 2026, we anticipate supporting the same number of brave patients and residents, and we need your help to ensure they receive the best possible care and quality of life.

Our core mission is built around intensive, tailored rehabilitation therapies, which are vital in helping our patients regain independence and communication. But our care goes beyond the basics. We also provide extra services that are crucial for healing and well-being, but are not funded by the NHS . These include access to our Assistive Technology suite, inspiring opportunities for art and gardening , vital day trips , and empowering wheelchair sports These services transform a clinical environment into a place of possibility.

Your continued support is absolutely vital to keeping these life-changing programmes running. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference:

£20 would supply seeds and gardening supplies for our patient gardens, nurturing a therapeutic connection to nature.

£30 would pay for a patient to get a much-needed haircut in our on-site hair salon, restoring dignity and con dence.

£50 would support essential pastoral and bereavement care for a patient and their entire family during the most dif cult times.

We have many exciting ways you can partner with us in the coming year, and we look forward to sharing these with you in the coming months. If you would like to support our patients and residents today, please make a donation now. You can give online at www.rhn.org.uk/online-donation or return your donation in the post, using the reply slip that came with this newsletter. Anything you can give will be an investment in hope for all our patients in 2026.

Celebrating the Impact of Our Corporate Volunteers

Over the past few months, the RHN has been incredibly fortunate to receive the time, energy and goodwill of several corporate volunteer groups. Their contribution has been invaluable, and we are grateful for the commitment they have shown to our residents and our community.

As part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives, teams from Abbott and TSB spent full days at the hospital, rolling up their sleeves to help maintain the terraces on Haberdashers’ and Wolfson wards. From clearing weeds and refreshing garden areas to repairing planters and revitalising outdoor spaces, their efforts have helped transform these terraces into places our residents can enjoy throughout the year.

Christmas at the RHN A Magical Festive Success

A truly magical community spirit filled Holy Trinity Church on 4th December for the 2025 RHN Carol Concert. The event was a complete sell-out, warmly attended by local families, staff, residents and their loved ones.

We were also delighted to welcome a dynamic group of young volunteers from Nando’s, who dedicated their day to supporting our ongoing Pre-Loved Project before joining work in our Community Garden. This garden is now flourishing, thanks in part to their hard work. Our greenhouse, raised planters and outdoor beds are steadily taking shape and full of potential.

In addition, we are grateful to the Co-op for selecting the RHN as one of its beneficiary charities. They have given over £5,000 to the RHN in awards and community donations, further strengthening local support for our work.

Our corporate volunteers have made a meaningful difference, and their generosity continues to enrich our hospital in lasting ways. We thank them wholeheartedly.

Guests enjoyed a beautiful mix of congregational carols supported by St Michael’s Barnes Choir and pupils from Hurlingham and Ronald Ross Schools, along with heartfelt readings, inspiring speeches and the unmissable humour of our chaplain, Geoff Coyne.

The evening concluded with an emotional candle-lighting ceremony in remembrance of departed loved ones. Thanks to the generosity of all who attended, £1,800 was raised towards Music Therapy.

Santa also paid a special visit to the RHN on Saturday 6th December, filling our historic Maxwell Library with festive magic. The beautifully decorated space became a winter wonderland, bringing priceless smiles and joy to children, families, staff and residents alike. a J K

HGuests enjoyed hot chocolate, speciality coffees, mince pies and cakes, while laughter and creativity filled the hospital with Christmassy arts and crafts. It was a truly unforgettable experience for all who attended.
